@intellectronica @GergelyOrosz Thanks! Makes sense. My challenge right now is pushing myself (and team) from low detail stories/figure out the details coding synchronously with an agent, versus extremely detailed story, pass it off to an agent, go refine the next story, review later. It's an adjustment!

@segunofsolace @GergelyOrosz Very detailed. Complete specifications that are ready for delegation to an agent with confidence. Not sure time spent creating them is the right measure, though, it gets quite fast with experience and obviously with the help of agents.

What is "loop engineering" to you, anyway? Been looking into this, and also experimenting myself... and I'm not (yet?) buying that it's a new paradigm. But I might just be missing something. Can you share "loops" you regularly use?

@intellectronica @GergelyOrosz How detailed are your issues/tasks in Linear? Like how much time are you spending on the classic refinement/grooming of those tasks such that an Agent is able to pick it up and go? Seems there's still quite a bit of upfront work for Loop Engineering to be effective to me.

- Take the next ready task from Linear - Code - Self-review (and improve until no more issues) - Create PR (draft) - Follow-up on PR CI actions (and fix if there are issues) - Tell me when the draft is ready (I decide from here) - Nightly / Weekly / similar – Security / Code Quality Bash - Review the codebase and/or changes since last run - Identify as many issues as possible - Classify (severity/priority) and rank the issues - File issues in Linear - Trigger the loop above for each so that I have a PR ready

@github @kdaigle The experience on the Agents tab of a repo where now you can go back and forth with it before it makes a PR, great feature. Allows you to lock things in privately instead of arguing with AI on a public PR. Thank you. Great feature.

@davidfowl Can you please ask the team to at least remove em dashes from the content it feels so effing Ai I don't want to read it Btw I'm a big fan of Microsoft documentation but I think quality is going to take a git after ai

@davidfowl I try to mute/block most "influencers". I'd rather read opinions of people who actually do the work; not someone milking social media engagement for income.

I see a lot of influencers talking about “not reading the code” and “building software factories” but I don’t see much discourse about what software engineering teams of the future look like? Software is a multilayer game as much as everyone will try to convince you that all you need is a team of agents…

GitHub Agentic Workflows are actually pretty cool. My initial reaction is why would I ever want a non-deterministic fuddy duddy LLM ops pipeline. But they do all sorts of stuff so you can super control things. Get the best of both worlds. A good read. github.github.com/gh-aw/patterns…

@kentcdodds I'm curious how this approach scales for keeping control of the slop. We're all being pressed to work so much faster and it's so easy to cognitively surrender and stop reviewing because you're being shouted at for the next thing.

@MOB001X100 I really miss watching Naruto when things were a bit more grounded with the Ninja battles requiring tact, thinking on the fly, using your techniques to their fullest abilities, rather than the DBZ lite vibes we started getting near the end of Shippuden.

@edzitron @levie @LouisColumbus Would love a blog post on this. It seems there's nothing new here. Did some digging, and Palantir has been using this title since the late 2000s. Company A sends technical person to Company B to help Company B build thing with Company A's product. Not new.

If I were a college career counselor or in career services, I’d quickly be figuring out how to get students to understand these forward deployed engineer jobs exist and how to get them. The requirements are a mix of deep technical skills, often CS majors or minors. You must be great at understanding problem solving, how to have systems thinking, and have a strong business acumen. The kicker, of course, is to make sure you’re very deep in AI agents; you need to have fluency in coding agents, MCP, CLIs, Skills, and so on. Hundreds (thousands?) of technology companies will be hiring for these roles, same with any consulting and IT services company, and the vast major of mid-size and large enterprises will be hiring for this talent internally as well. One great example of opportunity for highly technical talent out there.
nader dabit@dabit3

Forward Deployed Engineer is the hottest, and one of the most in-demand, jobs right now. Every major AI company is hiring including companies like @OpenAI @cognition @AnthropicAI and @Google If you possess a combination of soft skills (good communication), have an engineering background, and are up to speed on the latest and greatest in agentic coding you're probably able to land one of them. They pay well and offer a foot in the door to some of the fastest growing companies in the world.

@RLtwenty2 @araghougassian This is the exact Library that came to mind when I saw this post and was thinking "dude, America is a huge country, there are tons of beautiful libraries here". NC State's James B. Hunt Jr. Library in Raleigh, NC. Been there many times, it's awesome!

I used to have a blonde woman as my Partiful profile pic because it would get me randomly invited to parties in SF One party at the Ritz Carlton was so exclusive that they had bouncers at the door checking invitations Before I went through security, I would just change my profile pic back to a picture of a guy and would get in without any problem Morale of the story is if you ever see a blonde chemical engineer from Iowa named Ali S on your invite list don’t be surprised when I pull up and give you high five for hosting a great party lmao
