NEWS: Transgender women athletes banned from Olympics by new IOC policy on female eligibility LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Transgender women athletes are now excluded from the Olympics after the IOC agreed to a new eligibility policy on Thursday which aligns with U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order on women’s sports ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games. “Eligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females,” the International Olympic Committee said, “determined on the basis of a one‑time SRY gene screening.” It is unclear how many, if any, transgender women are competing at an Olympic level. No woman who transitioned from being born male competed at the 2024 Paris Summer Games. The eligibility policy that will apply from the LA Olympics in July 2028 “protects fairness, safety and integrity in the female category,” the IOC said.

@thefempire50 Well said. 'Women can do anything men can do' stated something impossible, so it's not surprising it's being fed back to us on the knuckles of a big hairy fist. We should have leaned the other way, 'Women's strengths and abilities are not second best'.

When I was a 20-year-old feminist, I used to think and repeat verbally that women could do anything men could do.
It wasn’t so much that I thought we were physically the same it was a way to get men to see us as equals as ‘what men could do’ was seen as the baseline of human achievement.
Over time, I’ve learnt that differences need to be celebrated and that women have so many strengths that are nothing to do with brute force and that we do not need to be ‘like men’.
Women and men do fall into typical gender roles sometimes and that is fine as long as no one feels they can’t step out of it comfortably.
What is needed is a deeper respect for female strengths, and to stop labelling human personality traits as masculine or feminine.
