It kind of boggles my mind that so many people are taking the Iranian regime's blatant spin at face value, even when everything we've seen from the US over the past few days (including now!) signals the opposite.

I just had a very disturbing Good Friday encounter with an ICE agent at the airport
As I was going through security, an ICE agent asked me for my ID. I told him this isn’t Soviet Russia and that the only citizenship papers I planned to show him were the Declaration of Independence
“Sir, I’m just asking for ID, not proof of citizenship,” he said.
“Today is the anniversary of Jesus’s resurrection,” I replied. “He was an American. Would you have asked to see his papers too? Would the scars on his hands not have been enough for you?”
He was stunned silent. I strode past him without showing my ID and went through the metal detector

Here's why I have a hard time with the media making Kash Patel a thing - The team doesn't care he's in the locker room. If they don't care, I don't care. And for a national media who shrugged their shoulders at the allegations of billion dollars of Medicaid fraud over the last two months, I don't think you can expect people to care about a taxpayer jet to watch Team USA.

Here is where I split off from the left on interventions. *Nothing has changed* for Xi/Putin. Their restraints remain the same: What they think they can get away with. For a group of people who endlessly study power relations, the left is so blind to it in Int'l Relations.
