I once helped a G-wagon bros with N50k to fuel his car as he was running late for a flight and only had 3 miles with 0 Naira in all his accounts. I was fueling my classic mercedes at the forte oil on admiralty road in lekkk and he casually walked up to me and told me his ordeal. I didn’t even think twice or judge him, I just asked them to fuel him quickly. Apparently his driver took the car on an errand and left it on empty. He got to Abuja and transferred N250k to me about a month later. I totally forgot the encounter. Great guy and today he is one of my biggest customers at my eyewear stores. I am currently watching a press briefing by President Trump, the CIA Director and his Defense Secretary about the rescue of an American pilot and a weapons system officer from the ground in Iran. The extent that America is willing to go to defend and rescue one American is just amazing. In Nigeria, a General was captured, killed and humiliated by terrorists and we didn’t see any meaningful action from Tinubu and his cronies in the Villa. Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces are being paid very ridiculous wages. Yet, politicians and their families are living in opulence.

I have actually begged a fuel attendant in a Range Rover after leaving home for the airport hurriedly and not taking my wallet. Even private jet owners find themselves in the worst predicament once in a while. Some of them walk around with dollars and no debit cards or phones to make transfer and the businesses say we don’t accept cash. Please quit the arrogance 😄😄😄

I have been in many embarrassingly broke situations in the past: 1. Finished a multi million naira house in 2013 and struggled to buy ram for the celebration/ eid 😃. 2. Drove a Range Rover to a filling station to buy N500 fuel in 2015 (PMS was about N100 per liter) because that was the last card on me and my guage was in red. Shame catch me for Forte Oil Oniru Lekki that day. But better than fuel finishing in a Range Rover in Ajah traffic that evening 😃

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES N3.3 TRILLION PAYMENT PLAN TO RESTORE RELIABLE ELECTRICITY President Bola Tinubu has approved the payment plan to finally settle the outstanding debts under the Presidential Power Sector Financial Reforms Programme. The debt repayment plan followed the final review of the legacy debts that have beset the power sector for more than a decade. The long-standing debts accumulated between February 2015 and March 2025. Following verification, ₦3.3 trillion has been agreed as a full and final settlement, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution. Implementation has begun, with 15 power plants signing settlement agreements totalling ₦2.3 trillion. The Federal Government has already raised ₦501 billion to fund these payments. Out of the amount, N223 billion has been disbursed, with further payments underway. What this means for Nigerians: With payments reaching the power value chain, generation will be more stable. With power plants supported, electricity reliability will improve. And as the sector stabilises, more investment, more jobs, and better service will follow. “This programme is not just about settling legacy debts. It is about restoring confidence across the power sector — ensuring gas suppliers are paid, power plants can keep running, and the system begins to work more reliably," explained Olu Arowolo-Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to President Tinubu. “It is part of a broader set of reforms already underway — including better metering and service-based tariffs that link what you pay to the quality of electricity you receive. “The government is also prioritising power supply to businesses, industries, and small enterprises — because reliable electricity is critical to creating jobs, supporting livelihoods, and growing the economy. “The goal is simple: more reliable power for homes, stronger support for businesses, and a system that works better for all Nigerians," she added. President Tinubu has commended all stakeholders who supported efforts to resolve the legacy issues in the power sector. He has also confirmed that the next phase (Series II) will begin this quarter.
