Frankly it’s crazy to count votes several weeks after they have been cast in several states. The EC says that it is impossible to do it any quicker Even if this is true (which I doubt) then how can anyone support simultaneous elections for centre & all states as the BJP wants?

It is sad that 70 years after independence, we have not created a real wealth creation city in India other than Mumbai. Like it or not, the opportunities that this city gives, to people who are nobodies, know nobody and even for someone who knows nothing, is unparalleled All it requires is hard work and if you may not succeed, you will survive I have a guy who washes my car everyday. He is 12th pass, maybe not even that He charges me 600 bucks a month. He washes about 30 cars in my society That nets him 18k a month Once his job is done by 10 am, he goes to a nearby bus booking centre where they need people to load and unload intercity tourist buses. There he earns 250 to 500 bucks a day. That nets him another 12500 bucks a month In addition he also brings passengers to buses and earns about 100 bucks per passenger That nets him another 10k a month He is done by 3 PM there. Goes home, eats lunch, takes a nap Then in the evening, if he feels like, he goes as a helper to a Pav Bhaji Place in my locality. They pay him 500 bucks and give him dinner too. That's another 10k In total, every month he earns 50k. And he can always increase it by taking other odd jobs. He stays in Dharavi, has put his children in an English Medium private school and told me he has built a house in his native village. For a twelfth pass guy it is an amazing achievement. And this was made possible by the tremendous earning potential that Mumbai gave him This kind of economic opportunity is not available anywhere else in India. No other city comes remotely close to this. That's why people flock to Mumbai. They know if they work hard, they will at least survive.

I have two Medha Patkar stories. At the height of Narmada dam agitation, the Greens had a meeting at a place at Grand Road (don't remember the address). The setting was simple for the cameras, yet the Greens were serving her expensive bottled water and gourmet food. A sharp contrast to the cause she claimed to represent. I once went to her house (guess Chembur) and her assistant guided me from front entrance - a stage - old furniture, a single fan, the image of a humble servant of the people. But the back entrance? Fancy, exclusive, and reserved only for a select few. ​The back door always tells the real story.😂

@niketrajdwivedi I am 55 am and in Tech (ERP)...but I know my limitations and my strengths. I will not leave this city just because someone else is doing better than me. I think that inane competition will be in every city. It's more a mindset issue.

Bengaluru is a tough city. I have seen 50+ known folks leave the city permanently for different reasons- -finances fell, job lost -mentally challenging because people around are doing super well and insecurity kicks in -only the top tier survives People give reasons that make them feel good but the truth is, it isn’t for everyone. If you just want to party and have fun, you have Delhi. If you want a non-tech career, Mumbai is the place. But Bangalore is tech+great places+insane competition.
