It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

I have created a website, where you can share your sample analysis (via links or posts) and search samples for training based on tags and difficulty. If you write analysis blogs, you can share them there. samplepedia.cc

Journalism. Nowadays, it's the exact opposite. The AI slop makes it so difficult to decide what's true and what not and trusting reliable sources like Reuters becomes much more important.

The AI slop reporting about Venezuela is crazy. Never thought I would say this, but traditional journalism seems to get more and more important. 10 years ago, I would have looked through twitter for news and most of the time that was very reliable + much faster than traditional

I really did not expect "open source projects must allow sanctioned individuals and employees of sanctioned entities in Russia to be maintainers of their projects, or it's not open source anymore" to be a hill so many people are willing to die on, but here we are.

Follower power: Do you know any Go Library that allows marshalling k8s structs to simplified k8s YAML files? The yamlv3 package also prints 100 unset fields :/ #Kubernetes #Golang

Unbelievably saddened by the loss of my dear friend @SusanWojcicki after two years of living with cancer. She is as core to the history of Google as anyone, and it’s hard to imagine the world without her. She was an incredible person, leader and friend who had a tremendous impact on the world and I’m one of countless Googlers who is better for knowing her. We will miss her dearly. Our thoughts with her family. RIP Susan.

GitHub could make git lfs free.. and this would help them reduce binary clutter in git repositories, but instead they ask for money although repository disk space is free. 🤔 Am I missing something?

TBH, I don't understand GitHub's pricing strategy with git lfs. Isn't the goal of using git lfs to avoid binary clutter and reducing the repository disk size? So why should I pay for git lfs if I can just put the PDFs or images directly in the git repository?

Next Monday, I’m joining Google as a Principal Engineer to work in the intersection of LLMs and developer/researcher platforms and tools. There are large gaps at every layer, from prototyping to building production services. While we train and explore models, we are not doing enough for infrastructure and tooling.

Some of the most toilsome work our Platform Engineering team does is removing CVEs from our container images and creating STIGs for those same containers. As of yesterday my team no longer has to do that because we now utilize @chainguard_dev container images and are also members of their STIG early access program. This is such a win for productivity.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but why does dbus feel so terrible? People seem to prefer making subprocess calls over using dbus. This clearly shows to me that there is some sort of gap. Why can't we have something more simple to use? #systemd #dbus
