Postdoctoral Scholar, University of Chicago. I study protein secretion and localization in Staphylococcus aureus

Max Bobrovskyy, PhD (@gr8hehe) is a Postdoctoral Scholar in @MissiakasLab. He was awarded a K99 this year for his project which focuses on the specialized Type 7b Secretion System (T7bSS) of S. aureus where it supports effector translocation, and facilitates invasive disease.

#SayHello to our Postdoc @gr8hehe 🧫 Max studies the ESAT-6 like Secretion System of Staph, identifying targets/mechanisms of secreted toxins. Recently, he was awarded the NIAID K99/R00 grant!! Max is a SUPERSTAR in the lab but also in the dojo where he practices his 👊🏼 JUDO 🥋

Most recent work from the lab just out @Nature. By combining ancient DNA work, population genomics, and in vitro infections we show that the Black Death shaped the evolution of immune genes. Kuddos to co-first authors @TaurVil and Jennifer Klunk. nature.com/articles/s4158…

This Review describes how advances in RNA sequencing are providing molecular insights into host–microbe interactions, including advances in cross-species and single-cell transcriptomics, including advances in cross-species and single-cell transcriptomics.
