@therealmrbench The liberal mandate was to open the floodgates to immigration, directly opposing the conservative plan, which aimed to shut them. This fundamental clash is where the real issues began. It's evident that @SeanFraserMP incompetence has played a major role in this situation.

I await Governor General Mary Simon's condolence video in French. Why do the Liberals hold the CEO of Air Canada to a higher standard of bilingualism than their own appointee as Governor General, who hasn't learned French after four years in the role? TBH, I would rather have the CEO of our flagship carrier focusing his scarce time on safety and reliability than language training.
Tristin Hopper@TristinHopper

Air Canada has gone 43 (!) years without a fatal incident. My entire life up to this point has been lived in a country where the flag carrier never got a single person killed in a crash. The record is a totem to what serious people can accomplish. So naturally, Mark Carney is screaming at them to instead focus on nonsense.

Imagine you’re the CEO of Air Canada…. ….sleepless and dealing with a brutal tragedy in real time with vast US and Canadian media coverage - and your PM decides to hit you with a cheap shot saying you lack ‘compassion’ because you lack excellent French language skills. But you’re the CEO of a regulated industry so he knows you can’t punch back. Even though his own French is carefully stage-managed. And the Governor General can barely speak it. The PM chose to use a national tragedy to score marginal political points with the Quebec language police. Tone deaf and gross. Je veux dire, c'est grotesque et d'une insensibilité totale.

Staging matters, but the reality is we are not dealing with normal growth cycles right now. When population growth is running three to five times historic levels, traditional phasing breaks down. Infrastructure that would normally be timed over years gets overwhelmed almost immediately, and developers end up carrying escalating costs while still trying to deliver affordable homes. That is exactly why alignment is so critical. If approvals accelerate without infrastructure keeping pace, you get the pressure we are seeing on corridors like 17th. The issue is not density, it is the mismatch between growth and readiness.

@ShaneWenzel Totally agree with you, we do need higher density with proper infrastructure. But 17th has been a nightmare since Chestermere reached the 40,000 population. And developer costs are out of control but this could have been achieved in stages

Canada needs growth and Alberta is carrying more of that weight right now. February jobs were weak nationally but Alberta is still outperforming with stronger year over year gains and lower unemployment. That matters for housing, investment, and confidence across the country. Worth a read if you care where things are actually heading in the near term atb.com/company/insigh…

I hear what you’re saying, and I don’t think you’re wrong to be frustrated, but that’s exactly the point we’ve been raising. Approving higher density without aligning infrastructure is what creates the situation you saw on 17th Ave. It is not the housing form itself that is the problem, it is the sequencing. If roads, servicing, and transportation capacity do not keep pace, you get congestion and pushback from residents, even when the underlying demand is real. From our side, we are not advocating for density in a vacuum. It has to be tied to a clear infrastructure plan and funding strategy, otherwise it undermines both livability and long term value. The real question is not whether density should happen, it is whether municipalities are prepared to support it properly. Right now, that is where the gap is.

@ShaneWenzel I drove to Chestermere yesterday and was actually disgusted by the amount of multi-housing that is near completion and yet 17th Avenue remains a 2 lane highway. While I agree with you that we are outperforming, I do not support high density housing without proper infrastructure

The Adam Soos Show: Shane Wenzel on Radical LGBTetc Activism Echo-chambers are dangerous places. They breed radicalism. This is true regardless of your political stripe, worldview or religion. If you limit who you are willing to engage with to people who agree with and affirm everything you believe in, you put yourself at serious risk of becoming radicalized, if not at the very least staggeringly narrowminded. Full episode drops tomorrow, Wednesday

@ShaneWenzel @kpac_15 Good on you, Shane. I learned Spanish for the sake of speaking with the locals in Mexico at their level when on vacation. That's a much better reason than me learning French in school in rural Alberta to satisfy some bureaucrat.

Under 18% of Canadians are bilingual. Every federal public worker is required to be bilingual, and they want CEO’s of major corporations to be bilingual. All I’m saying is, this is pretty much DEI in a nutshell. 😂

👀 Watch and be amazed. Mark Carney tells a bold faced lie: “Affordability’s the best it’s been in over a decade.” ( lol, excuse me, what? ) And then the unethical, self serving, traitorous floor crosser, Michael Ma, CLAPS AND GIVES HIM A STANDING OVATION!

@timhodgsonmt This is a goddamn joke. You just handed the Alberta separation movement a fresh talking point and called it “Team Canada.” “Regulatory certainty” apparently means celebrating cuts Alberta already made a decade ago. Incredible stuff.

Canada-Alberta MOU deliverable #2 ✅

Today, we announced an agreement with Alberta to reduce methane emissions - a gas 80x more potent than carbon dioxide. Canada is a leader in reducing methane: methane emissions in Alberta have already dropped by more than 50% since 2014.

This is regulatory certainty. This is responsible development. This is being an energy superpower. This is Team Canada in action.

More to come in the next few weeks!
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

Canada is strongest when we work together. Today, Canada and Alberta reached an agreement to lower methane emissions in the oil and gas sector — to create good jobs, cut pollution, and help position Canada as the world’s supplier of choice for responsibly-produced energy.
