@DJK1NG_Gaming I remember the announcement, at whatever convention it was. They did not once ever say it was a new console, only raved about the power of the tablet. Dont think the actual console was visible. Honestly, i dont even remember if they ever properly clarified it was a new system.

@HoegLaw i've seen some studios use the term "iii" for highly funded indies. Maybe thats where this.. uh... "game" falls into. Course, Dustborn got government subsidies (Norway & USA!) as well, but wouldnt call it iii, and still technically indie i think.

@HoegLaw i think game development has gotten a lot more diverse, and the term Indie isnt cutting it anymore. I would argue the average gamer believes it means self funded, and/or a group making the game part time.

You all are making me defend freaking Mixtape and it is making me sad. I’m honestly not sure there’s anything more ‘very indie’ than seeing whatever economic development fund is local to the devs in the opening credits. Given that most funds have size thresholds (they’re intended for development), there’s little that could be more indie. Seriously go look at the logos in any random indie game. Chances are you’ll see one or more. No, you don’t have to like it, but come on.
Perma Banned ထ🔨@GiveMeBanHammer

Oh…so it looks like not only did Mixtape get funding from the Larry Ellison’s daughter, it seems they also got funding from the Australian Taxpayers too, via the government. How quaint, very Indie. What kind of makes me wonder personally, is why they needed even more funding, from taxpayers even; when Anapurna could just throw money at them without problem. You’d think they wouldn’t take the grant and let the government use their share to fund another properly bootstrapped indie dev team with no wealthy backer that need it more… Every little bit helps I suppose.

I'm seeing The Expendabelles come up again this week. If you see people freaking out over this project acting like its some new travesty, remember: it has been an idea/in the works since 2012, and those people do no research on the topics at all.

@ivanrouzanov Even on new hardware, vista had too much change and yea, bugs. I remember spending 10 minutes trying to find the network adapters window in vista for first time, and i was on the verge of tears cause it was so fucking obtuse and buried.

@ThePrimeagen They've been known to do shady things in the past, especially with locking things into their proprietary methods. but people keep wanting to hand wave this shit cause "they so friendly to new users!" From just last year as reference: all3dp.com/4/bambu-labs-c…

@memeticsisyphus Yeah, one of the biggest blunders of that guy. There is an old quote that i think of often: "The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe." -H.L. Mencken

George W Bush used to say “the desire for freedom resides in every human heart” and it’s one of the falsest things he ever said. God rained down plagues and practiced miracles to deliver the Hebrews from slavery; a few weeks in the desert and they contemplated returning to servitude. Most men want security, food, and an easy life. They would sacrifice almost anything to achieve it, including the higher virtues, maybe even especially the higher virtues. The Last Man closer resembles the common man, which is why religion was and is so important. Virtue must be encouraged.
slovborg@n00rdung

how does one even get to this. it's like they read nietzsche & decided "hmm I want to be The Last Man, comfort & complacency sounds swell"

@obscuravpn "dont be evil" was a diversion from almost the start. Reminds me of how Warren Buffet is one of those guys saying "i should be taxed more!" but in lower key interviews he brags about how his secretary pays more taxes than he does.

Obscura: The Privacy-first VPN
Google really went from "don't be evil" to "how can I be as evil as possible". I don't like you Google, this is monopolistic and incredibly evil.
International Cyber Digest@IntCyberDigest

‼️🚨 ALARMING: Google now treats privacy as suspicious behavior by default. Users of GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, /e/OS, and other deGoogled Android phones are being locked out of millions of websites unless they install the exact Google Play Services software they deliberately removed. GrapheneOS is recommended by the EFF and used by journalists, lawyers, and activists in high-risk environments. The audience most likely to read Google's data practices and refuse its terms is now flagged as fraudulent for that exact decision. What happened?: ▪️ Google announced "Cloud Fraud Defense" at Cloud Next on April 22-23, 2026, branding it "the next evolution of reCAPTCHA." Existing reCAPTCHA customers were auto-migrated. ▪️ When the system flags traffic as suspicious, the old click-the-bus puzzle is gone. Users get a QR code instead. ▪️ Scanning the QR code requires Google Play Services running on the device. Internet Archive snapshots show this requirement has been live since at least October 2025, silently rolled out for 7 months before anyone noticed. ▪️ No Play Services = no QR scan = locked out. The bigger picture: ▪️ Google already tried this in 2023. It was called Web Environment Integrity (WEI), and it would have let Google decide which devices were "real enough" to access the web. Standards bodies and the public pushed back hard, and Google killed it. Three years later, the same idea is back, just hidden behind a QR code instead of a browser feature. ▪️ reCAPTCHA runs on millions of websites. Every developer who keeps using it is now, by default, telling deGoogled Android users they're not welcome...

its like the most milquetoast selfies as far as selfies go. Id have more problem with the people having a gd heart attack over a clothed picture than the person in the photo. oh, I saw on social media you have a picture of yourself? care to explain that? huh?

@AlphonsUnem I checked out when he started doing new episodes of good eats again, and was talking about a 2 day process for a steak. Like, the original G.E. run was a good launching point for ideas and howto, but i've moved in a totally different direction than him of today.

Here's a lawsuit filed today about "the Ferrari or Prada of canned tomato varieties." We're talking about San Marzano tomatoes, of course. California consumers say that Cento Fine Foods falsely advertises its tomatoes as being "Certified San Marzano." The tomatoes allegedly are "inauthentic, and indeed illegal in Italy." ICento was ejected from the Italian Consortium that approves San Marzano tomatoes in 2011. The Consortium "is the only entity which can certify and approve San Marzano tomatoes." Following an Italian police raid of Cento's operations in 2010, a manager was convicted of criminal fraud for selling counterfeit tomatoes. Yet Cento continues to give the "false impression that [its product] contains Consortium certified San Marzano tomatoes."

so, from the photos i've seen... the steam controller is just a playstation controller, but bloated. and still with this backwards braindead positioning of the left analog stick. like, i was never going to buy it to begin with, but at least this removed any temptations.

Here’s another thing: almost all of the bread I’ve had in Europe is widely available in the U.S. Even small towns often have bakeries cranking out passable ciabatta and rustic boules. Every major city has multiple spots making authentic baguettes. The reverse is not true.
