"Gen Z" does not door dash. They don't go to restaurants, they don't go to the cinema. Their main expenses are their car and rent. Meanwhile the people accusing them of frivolous spending have $15+k collections of kitsch trinkets that will go straight into landfill when they die.
The Refined Populist@RefinedPopulist

Except Gen Z takes every criticism as contempt. Tell them to stop spending $50/day on DoorDash and suddenly you’re “out of touch,” “bootstrapping,” or “ignoring systemic issues.” At some point adults need to hear unpleasant truths without needing them packaged as therapy.

I purchased a home in 2008 for $15k down (me) and $15k down partner and my "share of mortgage" was initially $500 a month in that home and perhaps another $500 a month in maintenance. Later I bought out my partner at rates 50% the current market rate and my share of Mortgage was $1500ish I was making about 80-90k at the time of purchase and partner was too, I made 90k and more after the buyout. That is round the same level a sheriff deputy in LA would have made plus spouse perhaps a bit more. I wan't frugal at all before buying it and was only really frugal after buying partner out. I ate one meal a day at $1 a meal for 6 months or so and money was very tight for 5 years. So this fantasy world of the 1970s existed for me in 2008 Today the rental income pays the mortgage and it is nearing $1M in appraisal value. My story will be told about how your generation had it easy... Somewhere someone is doing the same thing TODAY and your grandkids will say you lived life on easy mode. The divider between house and no house is about $15k cash

I got my PNG, stream background, stream background music, starting soon screen, BRB screen, stream start music, stream end music. soon I'll have emotes, emojies and more - all by AI, all for free, all without dealing with posh artists who would make me wait months for anything.

@sheepmaster711 @Akhlys_ My point is two fold. 1) That is what a boomer house looks like, they weren't fancy. 2) The idea that the house is going to move to where you live is overly optimistic. You have to plan your live around where the jobs and houses are if you want to be rich.

Gen Z has a giant fantasy about how everyone else had it easy. The truth is the Boomers worked a LOT harder and generally started working at 14. Even Gen X had a very very normalized thing where parents kicked kids out at 18. Not EVERY kid. But nearly every kid would have known someone who's parents did that.

@JordanBVide0s My neighbors kid did the local community college welding program. Graduated and immediately got an $80/hr job. He’s making $160k a year in his early 20s and no student loans. If you want to make money figure out what pays well and then go do that thing.

Here's your harsh truth: Inflation isn't the problem. You just think you're entitled to every luxury. - You don't want to live in a 1000 sq ft house, it has to be 3000 sq ft - You need to drive a new car every 4 years - Vacation has to be at a nice hotel with room service - Dinner has to be Door Dashed because you're tired - I need a new iPhone every 18 months - Everyone goes to Disney World, so I deserve to as well No you don't. Make more money or be quiet. You're not entitled to eat out every day. Growing up, we ate out 2x a month, and it was a bag of burgers and a few large fries we split. "We shouldn't have to live like they did in the old days" No luxury is an entitlement. You still have to put in the work to afford it.

This is the best time to quit gaming. -consoles are expensive -they require subscriptions -games are expensive -micro transactions everywhere -no more good games Just get a gym subscription and work on yourself. Call your parents, hang out with friends, and enjoy life.
