The justifications presented to the American public for the war in Iran were not the same military objectives we were briefed on today in the House Armed Services Committee. This gap is deeply troubling. The longer this war continues, the faster it will lose the support of Congress and the American people.

The crime of foreign espionage is so great it would seem to "trump" any White House immunity. Plus he was a private citizen when he committed the crime. The authorities sentenced the Rosenbergs to death for passing over only one classified document to the Russians. Come on, dudes! Stop being so bloody stupid and charge him now!!

News broke that Trump stole classified documents for money and committed espionage as a private citizen. Some of classified info was so sensitive that only 6 people could legally view it. In Trump's lust to have the DOJ and Congress go after Jack Smith for investigating his crimes, Pam Bondi accidentally gave one of the hidden documents showing Trump's guilt to Rep Jamie Raskin. Trump can be criminally charged when he leaves office and impeached for it if Dems take the House. No immunity. No double jeopardy. This would a new criminal indictment after Judge Aileen Cannon corruptly threw out the prior slam dunk case against him. The penalties for Trump's espionage crimes are massive. Robert Hanssen, Aldrich Ames spent the rest of their lives in prison for doing less than what Trump has done.

@InviteWisdom @GeorgeProust There isn’t one. He wasn’t president when he did it. He could yet spend the rest of his life in prison for this, except I don’t know if Cannon dismissing the case turns it into double jeopardy. If the jury wasn’t seated yet, it might still be actionable.

Ridiculous to get outraged by what you imagine will happen when there’s no evidence that Trump or anyone in his administration is even considering doing those things. Why not direct your outrage to the abuses of power actually conducted by Democratic Party leaders against their political opponents? The USSR engaged in bogus prosecutions against dissidents, didn’t they? Didn’t they also base prosecutions on slivers of evidence that were used to imprison political opponents? What about efforts to remove the leader of the opposition from the ballot? Those things seem much closer to authoritarianism than hypothetical actions that you think could maybe occur. Your voice could be very powerful if you directed it against the genuine threats to the principle of government by the people - as shown by actions already taken by Democratic Party leaders, as well as their public statements committing to taking additional authoritarian-like actions in the future (such as packing the court and creating two new states that will almost-certainly vote for Democrats). Please put aside all the commentary you’ve heard over the last 10 years and reconsider your opinion (which doesn’t seem to be based on any real events - only inferences) about which party is currently engaging in authoritarian-like actions.

The problem with the American anti-imperialist left is that, in many cases, their activism is built around a savior complex that expects the oppressed to operate within a monolithic victimization tied to a preferred political identity, one that ultimately serves the agenda of the savior (in this case, the anti-imperialist left). When said victim does not act as expected, they are met with vitriol and disdain. This is why the Western left often has disdain for diaspora communities, because they can’t fit them into their preferred ideological box.
