League of Legends is a lot harder than Deadlock.
In fact, I no longer think it’s comparable. I don’t think it CAN be comparable with Deadlock’s current systems.
That’s not to say that DL is an easy game at all bt!
I still think Deadlock’s mechanical ceiling COMPLETELY blows League’s out of the water, and the macro aspect isn’t too far behind League’s either.
However, n of that matters when the game holds your hand by injecting a gold-hack onto your account as a reward for getting your back absolutely blown out in lane.
My sudden jump in opinion between games comes down to literally 1 factor.
Punishment.
In LoL, snowballing and the ability to 1v9 carry off of winning lane has been massively toned down over the years.
It’s actually basically nonexistent today compared to 10 seasons ago, where you’d land 2 solokills on good wavestates toplane and be 4 levels up on the lobby 10 minutes later.
However, there’s still a significant degree of punishment you’ll face from making stupid mistakes in lane. Make consecutive mistakes in lane and you can outright ruin your entire game, nearly irreparably.
Deadlock in it’s current state is basically the polar opposite lol. Sometimes, you can actually die 4-5+ times in lane and only be marginally behind (sometimes even if your team gets the comeback urns) 10 minutes later.
I think it’s a combination of comeback mechanics being WAY too strong and a lack of a 3rd neutral objective.
Obviously, it’s also cause of a general lack of coordination resulting in more throws, but this is an unfixable problem. Welcome to solo queue ladders in team based games 😭

I also do think the souls system makes snowball very tricky to balance, since gold and exp are combined into 1 resource.
Making snowball a tiny bit higher can tip the scales and make mid-game demons (Mina Celeste Yamato Apollo etc) completely thanos exodia overpowered, they are already strong af LMAO.
I’d honestly like to see a non-money related neutral objective (LoL dragon soul equivalent) put into DL before nerfing comeback souls.
OBVIOUS DISCLAIMER: All of this is subject to change since DL still isn’t complete.
But, as of now, I just don’t think DL is punishing enough to compare to LoL in difficulty.

@RohanGod_ There’s been rumors of valve working on a third neutral objective. If you were to come up with the third objective idea what would it be? (Besides the dragon soul from LOL you mention)

The current generation focuses more on fight scenes and animation than on story and plot quality.
There are episodes with strong story and plot, yet they receive little attention, while episodes that rely mainly on flashy animation and combat are highly praised.
Personally, I do care about animation quality, but never more than the quality of the plot

@sillydomi Yeah we definitely agree. I guess my whole point is that I understand where they come from. I think they do this because most people wrongfully assume that aim is the root of their problems and must aim train a lot. They try to overcompensate so people dont go down the wrong path

@shotty44 however i tend to see a complete distaste from ppl like awkwardOW and even other Overwatch players/coaches/streamers which in comparison to how widely used it is in Valorant - a game thats in comparison much less mechanically demanding - its wild to me

aim train for like 15-45 minutes tops (consistency >>> spurts of multi hour sessions into burnout)

play more confidently aggressive and take more fights in-game

accelerated mechanical improvement.
these 2 concepts are not mutually exclusive and actually work best together

@sillydomi I wouldnt say it is a distaste for the mechanical skill it is just a fact that if you want to improve at a game you need more game sense and decision making. Even viscose and matty tell you to only keep aimtraining at 20% of playtime if you want to improve at a specific game.

I know I've said it before, but I think this update really makes CS2 feel on the level of GO in terms of responsiveness. Hoping the community agrees with me this time! Also the Train rework is AMAZING and I can't wait to play it next season (right @CounterStrike?)
