If you can manage a fridge, you can manage a VC portfolio. Both involve assets with unpredictable shelf lives, constant reprioritisation, and both punish procrastination equally 😂

@vijayshekhar @elonmusk One thing that my cofounder was discussing the other day was that due to AI since content creation is getting so cheap that platforms like facebook and youtube might charging money to post content. This way they might be able to control quality vs abundance. Let's see how it goes

@vaibhavbetter This is just an outcome of Capitalistic society, the only metric to maximize is Profits so as a result someone down the chain is suffering. Take any "clean" business and go deep enough and we should find someone who is losing. But yes, some business excel at this

You made a billion dollars but if millions lost their shirt in the process how do you rate your billion? This is the fundamental conundrum in making money from betting, options trading, prediction markets and more. No one right answer here and to each their own BUT it is smarter to not flaunt your billions without being sensitive to how it was made.

@TheSwamy One thing that really works and I have seen this multiple times in my home town in UP is to plan a visit of high ranking Minister(CM/Home etc) and wherever they are scheduled to travel, all roads are built in a single night. One caveat, only the lanes they travel on are made 🙃

There is no end in sight to the continued degradation of BLR roads - and as a local Bangalorean, this hurts more than ever before. Because the problem is amongst the easiest to solve - and we simply can't find any government that wants to try. Majority of the problems aren't caused by narrow roads or increasing traffic - its simply a case of potholes, poorly designed side walks and complete apathy on the part of the consumers when it comes to respecting other vehicles, which has to only be fixed with a stick by law enforcement. London, Paris, Rome or Tokyo do not have massive roads or highways - it's just that you always have two clean lanes and no potholes to contend with. The Government has got to make a massive investment with a "founder-mode" mindset. Potholes can be fixed within 90 days if we all put our minds to them. Even fixing drains and sidewalks take years and by the time any meaningful project is done at one end, the other end has already started degrading. Non-standard sidewalks, entries and exits, lighting of roads, kerbs, incomplete sections of roads etc. create extraordinary risks to the public and it's no wonder we have a reputation of extremely unsafe roads. We do not want the government to try to promote IT or AI - just give us basic infrastructure and the private sector will bring in investments in droves. Please make it a priority! @TVMohandasPai @kiranshaw @prashanthp @PriyankKharge @DKShivakumar @rkmisra @CMofKarnataka
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw@kiranshaw

I also am puzzled about why the political leadership is not showing the political urgency to fix our city and make it world class. It doesn’t take more than a focus in terms of budgetary allocation n execution. A billion dollars needs to be ring-fenced to do this @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @PriyankKharge

That's a lot of words to say end to end encryption doesn't and will not exist. Govts cannot get E2EE chats even from Whatsapp or Apple or Google because the whole point of E2EE is that that company cannot read it (so they can't decrypt it for the govt too). Europe and UK have been trying to push for chat backdoors and so far big corps have not relented to it. FBI wanted Apple to unlock phones of criminals and Apple had refused to be able to do that. The whole point of cryptography is to prevent even the creator of the platforms have the ability to read or decrypt the data (and thus the govt cannot force them to).

On the topic of privacy, there are three distinct cases I want to address: 1. The secret lover case 2. The violation we feel when a company uses our personal data to show ads to us 3. The secret rebel case The secret lover case also applies to org trade secrets and confidential data but "secret lover" is more catchy 😁 We work hard to ensure your privacy in case 1. Our tech stack and product are designed with this as a major goal. Let me come to case 2. By taking a vow to not use your data to try to sell you stuff, we protect you from that sense of distaste or violation. Our strong stand also ensures that corporate confidential data or trade secrets do not get leaked to those ad-related data mining systems. The secret rebel case is subject to the laws of the nations we operate in. Any company operating in a jurisdiction promising to protect a secret rebel against their own government is making a false promise. Sovereign power always prevails over mere companies. Whether it is Google or Apple, when they operate in India, they have to comply with Indian law and likewise Zoho has to comply with US law when operating in America. So while secret rebels can communicate like secret lovers do, secret rebels cannot expect courts to affirm their right to plot against their government. Our stand has been consistent on this matter. I have said these in our Zoholics events in many locations around the world for well over a decade.

As hard as it may seem, we should think of Nadella, Pichai, etc as Americans first. They are not going to antagonise their Govt. I'm sure we will still celebrate expat leaders and they will still go gaga over cricket and India nostalgia, but it is what it is. Indian IT companies have been reducing dependence on H1B visas over the years, US firms may also do that. More jobs will probably move to GCCs in India, going by FAAMNG hiring and expansion patterns
Rahul Shivshankar@RShivshankar

SATYA NADELLA WENT TO U.S FROM INDIA. TODAY TRUMP IS CLOSING THAT DOOR. Silicon valley is built on H1B visa policy, genius of Indian and foreign IT students like Nadella. YET NADELLA HEAPS PRAISE: "Everything that you're doing in terms of setting in place the platform..."

@pacificleo @Apple iPhone's UX is shit tbh. Exhibit 1: You always have to swipe from bottom of the screen to get rid of the Control Center otherwise you end up swiping 3 times up to go through random menus of music and wifi if you do it from the middle of the screen. Bad UX for thumb gestures

A $1200 computer will sell faster than a $1,200 computer. Why? The Comma Effect. Commas create mental pauses. Pauses = Weight. Weight = Feels more expensive. No comma? The brain reads it like hundreds, not thousands.
