i don't believe in god. i'm going to church every sunday. and every atheist, agnostic, and purposeless person should too. -raised christian -did acid in college. took an "archeology and the bible" class. denounced jesus. called the bible complete fiction -what followed: hot yoga. startup. hinge. 100+ bodies. "sexual liberation is good." -was hurting women. got tiring fast. something was eroding and i couldn't name it. -started going to church with my sister. kept crying during worship. didn't know why. didn't fully believe. went through the motions anyways. -then it clicked: traditional christianity: "jesus is metaphysically real (resurrected, son of God, etc.) → therefore you should orient your life around him." the truth claim grounds the practice. my flip: "orient your life around him → he becomes real to you in the only way that matters → the fruits come regardless of the metaphysics." the practice grounds itself. the truth claim is optional. i'm calling it faithless christianity. i am aware of how that sounds to trad christians but i don't care. i believe we are fighting the same fight. this is the rest of my life. more soon.
