During COVID, we moved to a quiet village above Bhimtal. 800 people. Silence. Snow in the distance. We met a couple who lived there full-time. They invited us for breakfast in their garden blooming with roses and tulips. I said, 'This must be heaven.' He replied, 'It’s calm. But last week, a storm shattered our window. The glass had to come from Delhi. Last winter, transformer blew, no power for four days.'
