@TMClash95 @BowTiedUM Copper iud has no hormones, I’ve had one and it didn’t mess me up like the hormonal birth control at all. Eventually removed it because it caused spotting - but definitely different than the hormonal birth control or IUD.

@Coleidoscopes Apparently at <2yrs old I told everyone about my sister who I played with in heaven and explained what her name was. My parents kept the name and she’s still one of my best friends 34yrs later 🤷🏻‍♀️

When my 8yo was about 4, she was laying on my stomach watching tv and said “There’s a baby in there,” with her hand on my stomach. I froze, mildly triggered because I had two miscarriages the year before. I asked if she knew if it was a boy or girl, and she said “girl.” I asked how she knew that, and she said “the people in the sky” (or “above her bed” it’s fuzzy to me now). I’m open-minded, so we went to Dollar General for a test. “Positive” it said. Gasped, I did. Now, we have a 3yo girl, and her sister knew before I did because people in the sky told her 😃

My contribution to the never ending mommy war on sleep training: Babies that sleep though the night as newborns are the quickest way to Irish twins. My two year old has been running interference for his dad for two years now and I’m finally getting the 3 year recovery gap between births. The Lord works in mysterious ways…

They don’t want you to know this, but if you did things correctly, your baby will be sleeping soundly through the night by 2 months.

My cousin is getting married today, outdoors in the Colorado mountains. I used to babysit her when we were children. She is a natural beauty, athletic and down to earth, she forgot she was supposed to get makeup for her friend to use to do her makeup today. Between the cousins we had everything she needs, but I think it’s so sweet that the person she seems to be least concerned with is herself. What a difference from the self indulgence we’re so inundated with. Also, having a big family is so fun. People forget that having lots of kids extends far into the future. My grandmother had 9 children. There are 21 first cousins just on our side, and most of us have children. The kids were all running in the field behind the cabins last night while we chatted and laughed. It really doesn’t get much better. Anyway, she’s a gem and I’m so excited to see her in her dress today.

@datingbyblaine When I met my husband, he was driving his beater work commuter (a piece of garbage). He also seriously downplayed his career success (can’t overstate this). But I thought he was hilarious, fell in love with the person. I’m absolutely obsessed with him 15yrs and 4 kids later.

If your household makes $200k a year the worse mistake you can do is to buy a home that’s over $600k. You will struggle 100% of the time.

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

Backyard chickens require insane amounts of inputs that you aren't going to be able to sustain in a food chain collapse. Want real backyard food security? Plant every square foot with POTATOES. PLANT POTATOES ON YOUR ROOF, IN YOUR LOCAL PARK, ON NEARBY STATE LAND, DOWN BY THE RAILROAD TRACKS, IN THE BAYOU, AT GRANDPA'S HOUSE, IN YOUR FRONT YARD, ON THE ESGES OF YOUR DRIVEWAY, ON THE HIGHWAY MEDIANS, AT YOUR KID'S SCHOOL, AT THE LOCAL POND, IN THE HOTEL PLANTERS DOWNTOWN, IN YOUR SUNROOM

Backyard chickens are one of the simplest, most powerful steps toward real food security. 🐔

@Girlaboutsmthng Wife's grandpa who's loaded lives on 60 acres in a 6 bed 3 bath house all by himself. God id kill to have that now with our 3 kids under 2. I wish they could grow up on a property like that. Will likely never afford a house like that before my kids are grown and all moved out

Feeling comfortable giving unwanted gifts is EXTREMELY boomer coded. It reeks of disposable income and big houses with lots of storage space like basements and garages Most parents of small children today are working with a lot less because boomers won’t move out of the houses that would be better suited to young families
mrs. dobbins ☕️🪶@mrsdobbins_

I think everyone has done fine learning to accept unwanted gifts, which has led us here to this point— so now we should exclusively turn our attention to teaching people to be thoughtful givers.

Underrated symptoms I assess clients for thyroid health by just looking at them: - chronic hair tangle, messy knotted hair. - deep noticeable lines on palms/soles - loss of lateral third of eyebrows - absence of fingernail moons - yellow-orange palms/soles - widening nose - less hair on legs/arms/toes

I keep coming back to these photos of hypothyroid recovery patients because they never cease to amaze me. Note the accumulation of mucopolysaccharides resulting in water retention/edema & decreased lymphatic drainage. It’s very common nowadays to see people walking around who are beginning to develop this “swollen” appearance. Many of the results shown (improved metabolism, hair regrowth, decreased swelling, clearer skin) were obtained with natural desiccated thyroid, which has a T4:T3 ratio of about 4:1. The quality of NDT supplements seems a lot more variable these days. The woman in the first photo achieved results with T4 only, but as Dr Barnes notes, T4 can leave residual symptoms if a person’s liver is not in good enough shape to convert it into the active T3.

@MAGA_Erin @sweatystartup I feel like I am this person, but as a guest lol. I strip beds, launder our linens, wipe down sinks, counters, toilets. I make sure there’s no hair left in the shower. Take out the trash. Leave it better than I found it. The bad hosts and guests ruin it for all!

@LepageDavid @Freecanuck1 Legally parents can’t do that to eachother. I get what you’re trying to do here, but if he really wanted to be in his child’s life, legally he could be there thru the courts. From what i read she moved closer to him recently

I had a bunch of Thai spices for making tom yum soup, but I neglected them so they got old and wrinkly, and I thought, why not infuse them into the glaze? Turned out to be an excellent idea. After steaming the fish, use the same pan with the juices, sprinkle with old wine, add aromatics (Thai red chile, ginger, garlic, celery, *makrut lime*, shallots) with lots of sugar, gelatine, and soy sauce, and simply reduce, then separate liquids into a bowl to cool and thicken. Pictured are the various ‘aromatics’ that simmered with the sauce. You can leave out the red chiles if you don’t like caliente.

Very lean white fish steamed with salt and pepper, served on a bed of Pearl rice. HUBBLY SPECIAL SAUCE (sort of a thai teriyaki gelatine sugar glaze, I’ll explain below). Raw egg yolk and coriander to finish. Three plates made. Generously rated 9.5/10.
