The one thing you can say about everyone who’s unhappy about Elon Musk’s new trillionaire status is that they’re the same bitter and resentful people who would hate you if you had more than them. They make terrible friends You shouldn’t do business with them Never lend them money Never marry them Never give them any responsibility

So I keep on getting harassing calls from 0602296274 claiming to be the city of Cape Town. They have all my personal details on this property, “you must schedule an appointment today for a prepaid meter or we will disconnect your electricity on Monday” threatening me is the last thing on earth you should do to me! Now I will double down on voicing my disgust with the City of Cape Town! @geordinhl get your BBBEEE appointed contractors in line!

Be brutally honest: Are you deeply outraged that, while hundreds of millions of Americans and I are struggling financially, @elonmusk has just now become the world's first trillionaire, with more wealth than he could spend in 1,000 lifetimes? Yes or no?

The DA has its roots in the old Progressive Party, of Helen Suzman days, and the National Party, of Kortbroek Marthinus van Schalkwyk days. Even though they claim to be “classical liberals” they are clearly not. A hodgehodge of political identity. What binds them together is the kool-aid.
Tara Roos@tarathinks

A few days ago, I tweeted that I think the DA will lose its majority in the City of Cape Town. That opinion has resulted in me receiving thousands of DMs containing rape and death threats from DA members/supporters. You are welcome to disagree with my opinion. If I am wrong, I am wrong. But threatening me with sexual violence because you disagree with my view is disgusting. In addition, I have been threatened with having my job as a journalist made “difficult”. I have been told I will not be given comment when I ask for it and that my editors will be contacted and pressured to remove me from stories. This is a tactic many of my colleagues warned me about. I have told me to avoid talking about the DA altogether because of threats like these. Twitter is not journalism. My journalistic integrity is measured by the articles I write, not by the opinions I share on social media. A tweet is not a news article. I did not publish a piece of reporting; I expressed an opinion. In a country where GBV claims the lives of hundreds of women yearly and has been declared a national crisis, it is completely unacceptable that I am receiving rape threats for expressing a political opinion. This is not simply another aspect of my job. While threats and attacks against journalists are sadly common, nobody would be threatening me with rape if I were a man. I will not be silenced because I expressed a view. In 2023, I publicly stated that I believed the ANC would lose its majority in 2024. Many people disagreed with me, but I did not receive a single rape threat from ANC members or supporters. I do not speak about the DA more than any other political party. Analysing political parties is literally my job as a political analyst. What disgusts me is that in a country with constitutional protections for freedom of expression, a young woman can be threatened with rape and violence simply for making a political prediction. Disagree with me if you want. Argue with me. Tell me I am wrong. But do not threaten my safety because you dislike my opinion.

Elon Musk criou, em um único dia, 4.400 novos milionários. Quase 400 deles ultrapassaram os US$ 100 milhões. Hoje sua fatia vale US$ 880 mil. Palavras dele: “A magnitude disso é ridícula.”

@mervynsmith17 @Miz_Ruraltarain That’s been my argument we have to root out our own corruption within home affairs and border control. Staff caught selling fake documents should be treated as economic sabotage not just fraud!

🛑 63 "South Africans" get kicked out of Ireland, and surprise, surprise—a whole Nigerian family was among them using fake SA IDs! 🇿🇦✈️ Huge thanks to the ATM Party ( Vuyo Zungula) for forcing the Department of Home Affairs to admit the truth in parliament. If you didn’t ask the hard questions, they would have swept this right under the rug! Honestly, as a South African, I am absolutely exhausted. Our identity, our green mambas, and our passports are being sold out like cheap party favors by corrupt syndicates. It is an absolute insult to every honest citizen of this country. The mother and her two sons ( Oluwakemi Oyekanmi) got fast-tracked to the Lindela Holding Facility and deported to Nigeria within 72 hours. Good riddance! But it makes you sick to your stomach realizing Irish authorities didn’t even share the criminal histories of these 63 people before dumping them on our tarmac. We are completely exposed. Fix our borders, protect our identity, and stop turning South Africa into a playground for international fraudsters! Incompetent minister Leon Schreiber should be removed urgently! 🗑 🚮

Today, 12 June 2026, the suspect linked to the death of cyclist Landon La Grange is finally expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court. Landon was struck on Victoria Road between Camps Bay and Bakoven on 6 April 2026. He suffered devastating injuries, including the amputation of his leg, and passed away on 7 April. The initial police handling of this matter was utterly unacceptable. Despite the seriousness of the incident, the suspect was allegedly allowed to leave for the Eastern Cape and was not arrested at the time. It was only after I intervened through SAPS national structures that he was traced in the Eastern Cape and served with the relevant papers to appear in court. We are also aware that blood alcohol tests were apparently not taken on the day of the incident. That must be fully explained. This case is critical because thousands upon thousands of South Africans travel and commute by bicycle every day. Too many cyclists are treated as if they do not belong on the road, and in many areas they are simply disregarded by reckless drivers, including elements within the taxi industry. Landon’s case may be one matter before one court, but it speaks for many. It speaks for every cyclist forced into danger by lawlessness, poor enforcement and a culture where vulnerable road users are treated as expendable. Landon’s death cannot be in vain. His family, friends and the cycling community deserve justice, not excuses. We will monitor this case closely and continue demanding accountability from SAPS where the initial investigation failed.
