I just bought book The Ray Tracer Challenge - A Test-Driven Guide to Your First 3D Renderer and in the upcoming months I'll be developing my own ray tracer, in .NET Core. I will also document my learning experience on the blog. Here the first intro post. codeclimber.net.nz/archive/2019/0…

The CTO wants to move from a monolith to microservices. The monolith today: - 340K lines of Python - 15 developers working on it - Deploys take 45 minutes - 2-3 incidents per month from deployment conflicts - Handles 3,000 requests/second - Single PostgreSQL database with 89 tables But here's the catch: - Revenue is growing 40% quarter over quarter - You have 6 months before the next funding round - No one on the team has run microservices in production - The monolith is actually running fine performance-wise Do you start the migration now or wait? If you start, what do you extract first and why?

Shoppers inside an Apple Inc. store watched in shock as a man allegedly grabbed merchandise and sprinted toward the second floor exit. With security close behind, he made a split-second decision, climbing over the railing and jumping down in an attempt to escape. The landing went very wrong, and within seconds, the chaos turned into sirens and stunned silence. Moments like this show how quickly bad decisions can spiral into serious consequences. A quick grab-and-run might seem like an easy score until gravity and reality hit at the same time. Was the risk worth it for a handful of stolen items?

Latvian MFA 🇱🇻 | #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦
As the world watches the light of the Olympic flame, Ukraine endures the cold and darkness of Russia’s daily bombardments. While champions elsewhere chase gold, Ukrainian athletes fight for the survival and freedom of their country. Dozens of Ukrainian athletes have paid the ultimate price, defending their homeland from the “neutral” invader. The Olympics are meant to represent the values of peace and fair play. The aggressor has no place there. The presence of Russian athletes at the Olympics stains these ideals. #RussiaIsNotNeutral

🚨IOC statement 1/3 Skeleton pilot Vladylsav Heraskevych not allowed to participate at Milano Cortina 2026 after refusing to adhere to the IOC athlete expression guidelines Having been given one final opportunity, skeleton pilot Vladylsav Heraskevych from Ukraine will not be able to start his race at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games this morning. The decision followed his refusal to comply with the IOC’s Guidelines on Athlete Expression. It was taken by the jury of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) based on the fact that the helmet he intended to wear was not compliant with the rules. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has therefore decided with regret to withdraw his accreditation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Games. Despite multiple exchanges and in-person meetings between the IOC and Mr Heraskevych, the last one this morning with IOC President Kirsty Coventry, he did not consider any form of compromise. The IOC was very keen for Mr Heraskevych to compete. This is why the IOC sat down with him to look for the most respectful way to address his desire to remember his fellow athletes who have lost their lives following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The essence of this case is not about the message, it is about where he wanted to express it.

The AI hype is absolutely real for software engineering. If you have not had your opus moment yet, I suggest working on a side project that does not matter and letting AI take the wheel. Just to experience (in a safe space) what is possible.

@_MAGA_NEWS_ Why bombshell announcement? It’s stating the facts as any normal person on the world knows and feels obvious. Just stupid Americans thinks their problems are more important than others and justify stepping over international borders
