The ‘Special Relationship’ appears to have become an abusive relationship. Trump insults us and we send the king over in the hope that this time it will be better.

@MikeNew19512115 On behalf of the Newman family, I’d like to apologise for this one. Thankfully doesn’t appear to be related to anyone I know. Trump has simply weakened American influence around the world - irreparably. You can have Liz Truss though.

@Awaydays23 If I remember correctly, Matt Le Tissier scored with a header from a Neil Ruddock cross. We still lost though.

@FlynnJonas2 Would rather watch paint dry than international football unless Saints players are on the pitch. Switch off when they get substituted. Cannot get the slightest bit emotional about the national team.

Help me out here…. I love football, like love it, it’s a huge part of my life, and watching #SaintsFC effects a lot of my life… So why is it whenever the national team play, I just can’t be bothered, like not interested in watching at all.. Am I alone on this view??

Sitting right behind this epic #SaintsFC goal, I thought the idiot had ballooned it wide but then it just turned and turned and turned and ... and Shea Charles you have just hit perhaps the best goal I've ever seen!!
Adam Blackmore@AdamBlackmore

That was such a sweet strike ….just lovely and a privilege to call #SaintsFc When I hang my boots up or the BBC hangs them up for me (feels like that sometimes!) that goal could make the list Current favourites - Sadio hat trick v Villa, Sadio v L’pool, Sadio v City 40th anniversary, Shane Long v L’pool, Long fastest goal v Watford, Inter Milan home, Charlie Austin at Man U, Cuco v Arsenal 4-0,Clyne goal at Arsenal 2-1, Tadic at OT, Pelle’s overhead, the 8-0, the 2-1 win at Leicester after the 0-9, Cov 4-0 2012, Steven Davis double at Spurs, Gabbiadini at Swansea, Rothwell volley v H’field, West Brom semi and Leeds (a) just before as well as Arma at Wembley, and Saints fans at the EFL Cup final - what a day despite the result ! Just a few off the top of my head…many more !

@bmay Brendan, the minute you have residency in another country, you no longer qualify for free NHS care - even if you are considered a UK resident by HMRC.

@MatthewEllis72 @secondtierpod 🤣 I'm hoping our strategy is to score 3 early goals and then sub everyone off for an 11 man defence. Would love to see Wrexham and Millwall in the Premier League (though not at our expense naturally...)

@simonjohnnewman @secondtierpod Would say it’s a 6-pointer on Wed tbh - as in if you beat us, we’re pretty much out of it, but a win gives us a massive boost (and moves us within of you 3).

@JabroniTV @secondtierpod Yes - I know its nice being the 50th anniversary and in the second division etc like in 76, but you can't sacrifice that for promotion. That said, depends what happens in the games before the Quarter Final...

@TavernFootball Saints fan here. It was a difficult place to visit due to the closeness of the fans. Not the best place for away fans! My season ticket was in the Milton Road End. 40 ft in the air with no roof or protection from the wind (and the risk of injury from Le Tiss free kicks)

@ChrisMurphyCT The one thing missing in your analysis (which is excellent by the way) is that Iran don't do normal warfare - they are experts at fighting proxy wars and using cyber attacks incredibly effectively. I'd expect to see some big casualties of cyber attacks in the coming weeks.

9/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this. Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

It’s crystal clear now that Trump has lost control of this war. He badly misjudged Iran’s ability to retaliate. The region is on fire. 1/ I’m going to explain to you in this🧵what I’ve learned - in part from closed door briefings - about the four biggest current crises.

@McWhirterAlex @scottiebateman I know - which is why I asked it as a hypothetical question. Just interested whether taking longer was more enjoyable from a pilots perspective.

London to Hong Kong once took a week. Tonight we’ll do it while most people sleep. This evening I’ll push the A350 away from Heathrow and point it toward Hong Kong one last time for a while before my flying turns westward next month. It’s easy now to forget just how extraordinary this route really is. Tonight we’ll cross half the planet in a single sweep: Europe, Central Asia, and on toward the South China Sea. Even with modern geopolitics bending our track around closed airspace and conflict zones, the journey is still measured in hours. But when this route first opened in the 1930s, London to Hong Kong wasn’t a flight. It was an expedition. The old Imperial Airways flying boats crept east in stages, London to the Mediterranean, on through the Middle East, across India, then down through Southeast Asia. Passengers slept in hotels between sectors while aircraft were refuelled and prepared for the next leg. What we now fly overnight once took a week or more. The geography hasn’t changed, deserts, mountains and oceans still lie between Europe and Asia, but the scale of human possibility has. What once required patience and persistence now requires only a long night and the quiet reliability of a modern aircraft. One more crossing of this remarkable corridor before my compass swings west for a while. Different destinations ahead. Same sky above.

@JimCognito2016 I was an Advisor to Abu Dhabi Police about a decade ago. Saw it first hand - and ironically, mostly Westerners lodging cases against other Westerners.

If you're a UK immigrant to Dubai, complaining about the "police state" in the UK and how we "jail people for tweets", here's a simple test: Tweet the same thing, over in Dubai. See what happens.

Spurs fans, listen up… Watford don’t sell alcohol before kick off or at half time. Stoke’s ground is in the middle of nowhere. Upper tier away end at Loftus Road is best. Oh, and say hello to Millwall and Charlton.
