Is the DWP morphing into a pimp? This new article is a follow up to our previous one on how UK job centres are encouraging OnlyFans as self-employment for unemployed women. This new article explains more about how that encouragement works; why OnlyFans is not an easy way to make money; the 2012 law that banned jobcentres from advertising sex industry jobs and how this legislation has fallen out of use, how it is not included in standard DWP training, and few, if any, work coaches are even aware of it. It also explains that the sexploitation industry is one of the few industries that is currently booming in the UK. Given that we are in the midst of a severe financial crisis and the Government’s neoliberal policies and values, it is hardly surprising that the DWP is encouraging young women on OnlyFans. However, it is a total abdication of responsibility to the young women concerned, to society, and to binding obligations under international law to crack down on pimping and the normalisation of men paying for prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, which fuels sex trafficking. @bmay @RussInCheshire This is my local library. It has rows of computers with free internet access for those people who don’t have one at home. A community hub helping people get skills so they can get employment. It’s heartbreaking.

@rachaelfernz Congratulations on your novel! I've just read about it on the Curtis Brown email newsletter. It might be worth double checking about Freddie Mercury's origins, however. I thought he was Iranian and his family moved to India.
