Well done Recycle BC on the updated recycling brochure for the Central Okanagan. Clear, practical, and easy to follow as the new grey and pink boxes roll out to the curb now that it’s May! recyclebc.ca/where-can-i-re…

My heart breaks for the community of Tumbler Ridge — especially for those mourning the tragic loss of family and friends. No words can capture the sorrow or sense of injustice. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Under the regional model, resources were shared across boundaries. Deregionalization separates that structure. Each municipality has more local control — but it also means each area is more directly responsible for ensuring it has enough officers and support in place.

“The province needs to ensure policing and public safety is not at risk in the Okanagan, and by chronically underfunding provincial policing services on the Westside, they are failing to fulfill their obligation to our residents.” —Mayor Gord Milsom

Deregionalization of the RCMP in the Central Okanagan means policing is no longer being managed as one shared regional detachment. Instead, communities like West Kelowna move toward operating more independently from Kelowna’s larger detachment.

It’s been 107 years since WWI and 80 since WWII. In that time, it’s easy to take for granted the sacrifices made to preserve the freedoms we enjoy—freedoms still under attack around the world. Lest we forget those who fought and fell for liberty and peace. 🇨🇦

@JasJohalBC One of the biggest problems in B.C politics is our habit of turning to the old insiders for new solutions. Caroline isn’t just connected to the old political establishment—she’s part of it. Real change will require new leadership and ideas from people from outside those circles.

@JasJohalBC People need to look beyond the surface and realize that while Caroline Elliott may be saying things that resonate in this moment, she’s also one of the people directly responsible for the political situation we’re facing today in British Columbia.

NEW - Ex-BC Conservative candidates Simon Chandler and Michael Wu — both who signed the anti-Rustad letter — are hosting a fundraiser with Caroline Elliott, a presumed leadership hopeful. Rustad may dig in, but the revolt’s happening right in front of him. #bcpoli #cdnpoi

@JasJohalBC She was part of a small group that met behind closed doors to dismantle the former Official Opposition (BC United). It was a calculated, selfish and extremely short sighted decision that disrespected the voters and produced a fallout that was entirely predictable.

Some commentators like @NVanCaroline say that the BC Conservatives need a big internal shake-up if they're going to take on the NDP. What do you think?

Premier David Eby says politicians shouldn’t interfere in medical decisions—yet his government is doing just that. Charleigh Pollock is the only child in BC receiving treatment for Batten disease. Now, the Province has denied the special authority that covered the cost of her life-changing medication—against the direction of her specialists. This isn’t just cruel—it’s dangerous. It sets a precedent for how BC treats rare and complex conditions. I’ve written to the Premier demanding action. Let doctors—not bureaucrats—make the medical decisions. This is about a little girl’s life. Stand with Charleigh. #LetDoctorsDecide #StandWithCharleigh #JusticeForCharleigh #RareDisease #FamiliesFirst #BCPoli #LeadershipMatters #DoTheRightThing

Meta’s power demand is surging so fast they’re investing in nuclear to keep up. That’s a warning. BC is pushing EVs, heat pumps & AI—but where’s the plan for supply? Without it, we face a crisis. When demand outpaces supply, prices soar. We need action, not just ambition. ⚡

Wow. Bill 7 has to be stopped. @Dave_Eby, take note from former NDP Attorney General & Premier Ujjal Dosanjh 👇 “This is a fundamental brutal assault on our Constitution, on our way of governing ourselves and it is not warranted by anything I can imagine.”
Fran Yanor@FranYanor

Former BC NDP premier @ujjaldosanjh & BC Liberal attorney general Geoff Plant reject @Dave_Eby's Bill 7 as “fundamentally wrong” & an “assault... on our way of governing ourselves." My latest for @BeatNorthern northernbeat.ca/opinion/ebys-b…

I had an experience this morning that has left me disheartened. This story is true and not embellished. Early this morning, I pulled in to McDonalds, desperate for something resembling coffee. I saw a man, clearly in medical distress, on the ground in the parking lot (and beside a wheelchair). Beside him was a woman, with a jacket over her pajamas, walking back and forth on the phone. I stopped to see if I could help – she was on the phone with 911 and she was speaking kindly and comfortingly to this man. As I stopped, another man stopped also came over. Here is the kicker. This lady lived across the street and had seen him out her window. She bundled up and came down to see if he was okay. He was not. With a combination of anger and distress, she told me that not a single person had acknowledged her or the man. This man was in the parking lot within 15 feet of the drive-thru lane at McDonalds. Multiple people simply sat in their cars while they waited for their English Muffins – no help was rendered – not even a call to emergency services. The employees in the drive thru window could also clearly see this man in distress, and yet no call. I know from the woman that no call had been made as she was currently on the first 911 call recieved. The North Shore of Vancouver is one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Canada. There sat the occupants of a Tesla and 2 BMW SVUs. He was cold and shaking and unable to speak clearly. It looked like he may have fallen from his chair and hit his head on the curb. Had the man being wearing a suit, I wonder if the reaction would have been different. Perhaps if the kind and caring woman had not been in her pajamas. The other man and I left when emergency services arrived, yet the woman said she would stay with him. She is my hero. She did what many others should have done. What is happening to us that anyone could drive by another human being in distress? This is worse than driving by. These people were stopped, waiting for their food; impossible not to have seen. Let’s do better people. I hope this man is okay.
