The word entitled is a character assigned to behavior and objective perception. So to say that women are entitled, it could be the case that the women he interacted who are entitled, and had reached the opinion that those women deserve less except he extends that to ALL women. When we say black people are thieves, it’s a stereotype based on events, based on evidence, based on unfavorable circumstances, but of course not all of them are. It’s a generalization that you assign to a group and acquire opinions on them So I don’t see anything wrong with this statement, and no, you do not need science. This man is reporting his observation, period. And instead of asking him for data, which is the dumbest rebuttal, you can ask him if maybe his myopic experience has led him to think that way. And in a weird way, I could see how his idea holds water. Until very recently, women were mostly at home, dependent on men, and over time they entered the workforce, they’re more independent, or maybe now demanding more of what they need versus succumbing to what their husbands say. Additionally, the media we ingest emphasizes paternalistic role of the man to take care of the woman,… that he’ll buy you this, he’ll buy you that, he’ll take care of this. And for some people, they could be raised to look at it that way and adopt that, that that’s what ‘the guy’ is supposed to do, …’you buy me anything, you do and do and maybe I’ll put out’. So it could be true that it’s part of culture, it’s part of independence, it’s part of adopted characteristics in the last 50-something years. And it’s recent enough to see the shift in the change of how we are taught women are supposed to be and what we experience today.

As Catholics we’re supposed to guard our speech and remember that every person bears the image of God, even the people we strongly disagree with.
