Not a shock - Lasher was a top Hochul aide for a few years - but always notable when the governor chooses to weigh in on an open primary.

The office of NY Comptroller flies under the radar, but it’s an enormously powerful position that has the ability to proactively help make New Yorkers’ lives more affordable *and* invest in our future. For too long it’s been a glorified passive bookkeeper role. For the last two decades, it has invested the state’s $290+ billion pension fund in companies that are complicit in things that are abhorrent to most New Yorkers — all while leaving money on the table because it refuses to adapt to the moment. But now we have the chance to pass the torch by electing someone with a reimagined vision for the office, a deep background in finance and public service, with unflinching and consistent progressive values. Who will divest the pension fund from Palantir, fossil fuels, and foreign bonds (including Israel), while investing further in transit, housing, and upstate infrastructure. Who will take $20 billion in unclaimed funds that’s just sitting around waiting to plug holes in the state budget to actively invest in baby bonds, childcare, maternal care, and rent relief. Who will finally conduct the forensic audit that the MTA so desperately needs. Who was born and raised in New York, who — as the son of Ugandan refugees who was raised in a rent stabilized apartment — has known what it’s like to struggle and overcome. His name is Adem Bunkeddeko. And he’s the bold, fiscally responsible, homegrown, progressive champion that New York needs to usher in a new era of prosperity.

The public educational system and the welfare system with the unions and government in a symbiotic relationship is what defines New York's broken governing methodology.
