@colinwalker79 @Telegraph Less than 1% of road wear in the UK is caused by all cars vans and motorcycles added up.. A UK-focused peer-reviewed analysis found HGVs contributed around 87% of the “road wear impact factor”, buses/coaches about 12%, and cars, vans and motorcycles less than 1% combined

Crafty bit of EV misinfo from the @Telegraph here Headline 'asks' 'do EVs cause potholes?' Expert basically says 'no, not really' This is a classic example of 'Betteridge's Law' - which states that any headline ending in a question mark can be answered with "no" 1/6

what's the uk's "fourth" city? i feel like the top 3 of London, Manchester and Birmingham are pretty settled but the 4th is pretty ambiguous, maybe Ormskirk, Poulton-le-Fylde, Birkenhead or perhaps Bootle

41 years ago todays, Since Yesterday reviewed on the 'pop panel' segment of BBC kids' TV show Saturday Superstore. The non musicians disparaged it but the musicians were approving. Delia Smith hated the 'doom & gloom', Midge Ure retorted 'I quite enjoy a bit of misery'!

Sad to hear of the passing of Joe Bugner who twice took on Muhammad Ali. I met him once as a kid - so here’s a share from a short snapshot in time. Before his much publicised fight with Joe Frazier in Earls Court in 1973, he came into my local swimming pool at the Kensington Close hotel which is next to the yellow brick Tara hotel behind High St. Kensington tube station. I’ll never forget his sheer physical presence, literally making the pool look half the size. I swam with some trepidation fearful not to disturb him. He then disappeared in the pool but suddenly emerged from under me and we collided with some force. Seeing that I was winded, he apologised profusely. As I recognised him and knew he had a fight coming up, we sat and chatted for a while. I was 7 but he treated me like an adult. Not just an adult but an adult boxing fan. He even introduced me to his trainer, the hugely charismatic and legendary Andy Smith, also unrelentingly kind, and who explained Joe found swimming relaxing before a fight and even talked tactics for the fight. I had no idea what he talking about but still listened intently. Before leaving the pool they both shook my hand and said “great to meet you mate, be good” after I’d wished them luck. At that moment as a 7 year old I sincerely felt I knew two things: that I was their mate, and that I HAD to be good. I couldn’t let Joe and Andy down. I even got into a panic. What would they say if I met them again and found out that I wasn’t? That was the effect they had on me 😊 God bless boxing angels. Especially this funny one ⬇️

@Georgez0011 @JeremyVineOn5 @theJeremyVine Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. You could describe those places as overcrowded, however they are, to many, pleasant and popular environments, to the point of being enormous tourist magnets. The first two have extremely high levels of prosperity which is partly due to the density.

@JeremyVineOn5 @theJeremyVine we need an actual 'marker' which says when a place is overpopulated. Because argument is used too often. One indicator is the size of traffic jams. But then that could also indicate the lack of public transport provision.

Is the government right to use taxpayer cash to help buy electric cars? A new government scheme has come into effect, offering grants of almost £4,000. Critics highlight the lack of charging points and say the scheme will only benefit the well-off. What do you think?
