In 1942, in Nazi-occupied Tunisia—the only Arab country to suffer direct German occupation—a drunken officer bragged at dinner about the Jewish woman he planned to seize from a forced brothel. He named her. Across the table sat Khaled Abdul-Wahab, a 31-year-old wealthy Muslim Tunisian who had studied art and architecture in New York, spoke fluent German, and was trusted by the Nazis. They invited him to their tables. He smiled, poured the wine, finished the meal… then raced through the night. He pounded on the door of the woman’s family at midnight. “Pack nothing. Come now.” He gathered 25 terrified Jews—mothers, fathers, children, cousins—and drove them nearly 20 miles to his family farm. For four agonizing months, he hid them in the olive press, stables, and storage sheds. He fed them as supplies ran desperately low. He kept crying babies silent. When German soldiers came to count Jews, the hidden families pinned on their yellow stars, stood motionless, then tore them off the moment the danger passed. One terrifying night, a drunk soldier stumbled upon them and threatened to kill everyone. An 11-year-old girl, hiding under a bed, watched in horror—until Khaled appeared like a guardian angel. He calmly disarmed the soldier and sent him away. No one on that farm died. In May 1943, the British liberated Tunisia. The 25 returned home alive. Khaled went back to his quiet life—painting, raising daughters, serving his country—and never spoke of it again. Not to his wife. Not to his children. He died in 1997 at 86. His secret died with him. A decade later, his daughter Faiza sat in a Paris café reading a newspaper. An American historian was describing a Tunisian Arab who had hidden 25 Jews. He named her father. She was 45 years old and hearing the story for the first time. “I rediscovered my father,” she said. Khaled was nominated to be the first Arab recognized as Righteous Among the Nations—Israel’s highest honor for those who saved Jews. The committee declined. Today, those 25 souls have hundreds of descendants living in Israel, France, America, and Tunisia. The little girl under the bed grew up, built a family in Paris. None of them would exist if Khaled had looked away that night. He had everything to lose. He acted anyway. Then he carried the silence for the rest of his life. The world almost forgot him twice. Now you know his name: Khaled Abdul-Wahab. A true hero. A Muslim who stood against evil when it mattered most. Colorized image of black and white photo poster by Israel the Jewish State.

@TamamoTailFluff @wesleytypes @starwars Fortunately the game has immense replayability. I can understand the caution from a dev's standpoint of not wanting to overload too many companions at once, though. You're encouraged to take them around and do stuff with them, so getting a new one limits that.

The Disciple is a bit underrated in Knights of the Old Republic II. I didn't realize until this playthrough that he nearly figures out the whole plot of the game mere moment after you recruit him. He's so intelligent and full of conviction that even Kreia is amused, and later she straight up HAUNTS him and uses the force to prevent him from speaking about her. Yes, the Handmaiden is overall the better character and you can only have one or the other, but in "canon" both accompanied the Jedi Exile, so it's still important to see each of them.

@TamamoTailFluff @wesleytypes @starwars If I'm playing female exile, I go to Dantooine right away to get the crystal and Disciple, and then just leave without triggering the rest of the story. Idk why people get stuck on the idea of having to finish a planet before leaving.

@wesleytypes @starwars One of the biggest problems with KOTOR II that I don't see many people talk about is it's structure. You get one companion per world which means everyone who joins after Telos might be screwed by you doing theirs last. It would have behooved Obsidian to front load more of them.

@drowwpoison Kotor is a very classic star wars story. Simple, light vs dark, a good twist, kinda camp. Good, fun action and characters. Kotor 2 is the most profound examination of the universe there has ever been, superbly well written and acted, with more depth to its gameplay to boot.

@MathewNanos @ImBatman443 @ShitpostGate Well, they were at war with Australia before Darwin. Part of the strategy to cut it off involved the capture of South Pacific islands like New Guinea and Timor which brought them into direct conflict. Targeting Darwin was just to try and prevent it being used as a supporting base

@slaybakpd @ImBatman443 @ShitpostGate Ah yes everyone knows the best way to isolate a country is to bomb one of their cities so their allies will come to their aid and as well as to give said country an excuse to mobilise their army and navy against you.

#OTD in 1916, the Navy's "super-dreadnought" USS Nevada was commissioned. The Nevada would survive Pearl Harbor and go on to provide support at Normandy, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the war, the Nevada was painted orange and used as a target ship for the Bikini atomic tests.

@d_real_jqlo @victorA47 @thee_ovie @_chrismane_ But it's not more weird, is it? Melilla is a tiny enclave, it doesn't have its own professional league, it isn't far at all. Its location is not really that relevant, it makes complete sense for it to play in Spain, no different to Las Palmas or Mallorca.

@tovers98 We want it scrapped because it's completely ruining and taking the joy out of the game. I bet if they did a poll 80 per cent of fans would want it scrapped.

The reaction to yesterday’s tie has been genuinely insane. I have seen pundits and fans openly admit they want VAR scrapped because it intervened correctly on two occasions and did not give them the Wrexham win they wanted. Refereeing to the narrative is the worst thing.
