The development comes as the U.S. has completely halted aid to Somalia, including the suspension of humanitarian support. Somaliland has previously submitted requests to Washington seeking formal recognition, offering access to its resources in return. Bloomberg also reports that Israel and Somaliland are set to sign a broad agreement covering security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and countering regional security threats. The outlet adds that Israel plans to establish a base along Somaliland’s coast on the Gulf of Aden, though Somaliland authorities say the issue has not yet been discussed.
