So I may be eating my own words here soon with Crimson Desert, but I thought I would get a few thoughts out there. South Korea's made great leaps and bounds into mainstream popularity, but their games aren't *quite* there yet. The design is mostly there, but the big thing I find wanting is a sense of originality. Say what you will about Japanese game design, but at least their games feel distinct and memorable. Korean games like Black Desert Online and Stellar Blade, for example, just feel lacking in this regard, despite their own merits as games. It seems like South Korean game studios are still overcoming this hurtle. Maybe that's just me though.
