Cool to see how OpenAI uses Redis to scale voice AI to 900M users: openai.com/index/deliveri… We're huge Codex fans here at Redis - I use Codex 5.5 extensively - amazing work by the team there. GPT 5.5 is the best model for most tasks IMO. It even fixed my wifi tonight (no joke)

Independent of how you feel about Trump, you should be absolutely thrilled that Elon and @VivekGRamaswamy are joining forces to stop wasteful government spending

On my windows machine I usually use the regular CLI through WSL, obviously that’s not always a solution because WSL isn’t always available on our windows servers :). There’s also a node cli which I often see windows devs using - which is incomplete. Solution is usually to have them install Redis Insight on a machine inside of their network. Not nearly as scriptable as the cli is though.

@slorello @Redisinc More tools is good, but yes: that other looks great :) selfishly, for me having the ability to run it at the command line on any OS is very useful.

Current status of my resp-cli mad ideas: - ships as .NET tool - supports multiple connections - full interpreted tree / RESP views - SCAN view - works INSIDE vs/vscode - moved internals to a new lower-level RESP (not full SE.Redis) still very incomplete, but! (/cc @Redisinc )

@FrMatthewLC I’d like to meet the Costco shopper with a severe dairy allergy who doesn’t know butter contains milk.

This is one of those things where I hope we can rely on people to not be so dumb. Butter is being recalled as although it has milk as an ingredient, somehow allergy warning about milk was not printed (on butter).

@mattyglesias Plenty of money and infrastructure for a large bounce back. Pricy for sure, but the sunbelts gotten expensive in the last decade, and just hasn’t developed the same level of industry, so if they get housing policy under control could really set the stage for a big resurgence.

@markgurman I really think the M4 Pro Mac mini with 48GB of ram at $1800 sounds like a ridiculously attractive offering for a pro user.

Either GeekBench is wrong or Apple is doing itself a massive disservice by downplaying the M4 performance and comparing it to chips from 4 years ago.

Really not understanding the issue with the Mac Mini power button on the bottom. How often are you people shutting down your Macs?

@Jason I bought a hunker windows machine with an 3080 in 2021, clearing up my desk is very tempting!

I think it really depends on what you’re doing with it. I use an M1 Max with 32GB 1TB for work, and it’s hands down the best machine I’ve ever developed on (and I use less than half the storage). So I don’t know that scaling back to 16GB / 256GB would really have that much of an impact for a non-pro user (esp if you are paying for iCloud)

16 gigs of RAM and 256 gigs of storage? That is offensively small in 2024. And the 10gigabit ethernet that no one has a home router for is even more hilarious. 32 gigs and 512 gigs should be a minimum today.

@Jason There’s a pretty decent chance that if he loses in November they’ll just cease operations and return the money to their shareholders. So unless there’s really rampant fraud in the company there is some price at which it’s probably a safe buy.

@Jason $50M seems pretty bearish, I don’t think they have any debt, and they raised a bunch of money in the SPAC, I’d think they’re at least worth their book value.
