US defense official confirms to Fox News that the Pentagon is sending the USS Tripoli, a Marine Amphibious Ready Group, and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to Mideast. The Tripoli is stationed out of Japan and would take about 2 weeks to get to the Mideast. Accompanying the ARG and the MEU are approx. 2500 US Marines.

BREAKING: The U.S. is deploying 2,200 Marines and three amphibious warships from Japan to the Middle East, led by the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group: USS Tripoli (LHA-7) USS San Diego (LPD-22) USS New Orleans (LPD-18) The deployment includes roughly 20 F-35B Lightning II. The USS Tripoli and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit are based out of Sasebo and Okinawa, Japan.

@neilksethi I don't know if it will be as easy as declaring victory, Biden's numbers got killed after the Afghanistan situation. You can't just leave and expect people to believe you won. Just because it's so uncertain I'll still put a ~25% chance they take the L though.

I'm sure he'll do what he always does. He'll stop when he's convinced continuing is worse than stopping then he'll declare victory. His base (35%) will take him at his word as they always do and the 65% who don't approve anyway won't. The question is if they'll actually show up at the ballot box this time.
