Increased Demand Requires Stillness
Yet the news about Him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
(Luke 5:15-16 NIV)
Even the Son of God, the perfected man, the living embodiment of the Kingdom within withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Though He was the Word made flesh, Jesus never slipped into arrogance about His need for the Father’s wisdom and presence. As the crowds grew larger, as the demands of healing and teaching multiplied, Luke tells us He withdrew more often, not less. The greater the outer call, the deeper the inner return.
This is the Christ pattern. Not striving, but surrender. Not louder noise, but holy stillness.
How often do we lose sight of this in our own lives? We sense an increase in responsibility, deeper calls in family or creative work, more people reaching out for healing words or presence, and instead of drawing nearer to the Source, we push harder.
Someone gets a promotion at work and instead of spending more time in the Word to prepare, they get there early. Instead of spending time thanking God for everything at night, they work late and pass out in exhaustion at home. We trade morning communion for productivity, evening gratitude for exhaustion, telling ourselves the outer ministry is the solitude.
But Jesus shows us the opposite way. The more that was asked of Him, the more He knew His own cup needed refilling. He came humbly, fully dependent. He had to withdraw. He had to be alone to truly hear the Father. This wasn’t escape, it was alignment. It was returning to the Kingdom within so Love could flow pure and unforced. In the quiet, we learn the rhythm of breath, the sacred inhale of receiving His presence, the gentle exhale of releasing all that is not Him.
Beloved, in this season of collective awakening, where the “crowds” may be digital or personal, where the hunger for healing and truth feels louder than ever, stillness becomes not optional but essential. It is the very ground of effectiveness. Not as rigid discipline, but as loving return to what we already are, one with the Divine Presence. The meadow of the heart. The silent waters where the small self dissolves and the Christ within remembers Itself.
May we reframe our minds: the busier the outer world, the more intentional the inner sanctuary. Create your lonely place wherever you are, in the early morning quiet before the house stirs, in a walk among the birds and trees, in the space between breaths on the handpan or in prayerful song. There, the cup is refilled. There, we stop being the “doer” and become the open channel. There, we remember that true power flows not from our effort, but from Presence Itself.
Dear Jesus, thank You for being the true example of the servant who always chose time with the Father. Amid all the crowds and needs, You withdrew to the stillness. Help us to prioritize solitude with You, especially when the demands feel heavy and stillness seems hardest to attain. Refill our cups again and again. Let us walk as You walked rooted in the Kingdom within, flowing from oneness, present and whole.
TRY THIS - This mantra works because it rewires your subconscious to expect and notice opportunities instead of obstacles, turning random variance into a self‑reinforcing cycle of confident action. By declaring the “matrix” glitches in your favor, you stop fighting reality and start surfing it—and that shift alone creates more real‑world edges than any static prediction you see ever could. LCB.
Governor JB Pritzker is panicking now that Trump just blocked 8.4 billion dollars to Illinois because the state is giving free welfare to illegal aliens.
Do you agree with Trump’s decision?
