Higher yen import costs = higher inflation. Higher inflation = more upward pressure on yields. With debt-to-GDP of ~230%, Japan can't afford higher yields... so it sells US Treasuries to support the yen. Which is driving up US yields. The same dynamic is also blowing up the yen carry trade, where hedge funds borrowed cheap yen to buy higher-yielding US assets...like US Treasuries. Both ultimately lead to higher US yields. Which the US can't afford... especially while fighting a major war.

Man, I gotta say, as an american. I love how trump illegally taxed us and now the biggest corporations in the country get a free check.
