I highly encourage everyone to watch the conversation @AaronNagler and @JuMosq had on this topic. It’s highly informative and intelligent conversation around the real money issues of having a publicly owned team in the smallest of small markets. It’s so easy to take for granted what we have in Green Bay, but it’s exceptionally difficult.

Many scoffed when Ed Policy said his #1 priority was to keep the Packers in Green Bay. It’s an exceptionally difficult task to pull off as the team faces a constant uphill battle financially. Lots of work has been done to build up Titletown to stay competitive with additional revenue sources, but their “rainy day fund” is a tiny drop of water in Lake Michigan compared to what other teams have available. Staying financially competitive and viable is job number 1 indeed, and they are probably going to have to do some unpopular things like stadium naming rights to stay in the game.

@CartoonsHateHer This is why if a woman likes a man, it is a good idea to have a friend of hers tell him, "hey, she likes you." It's a way of letting him know that "she isn't going to embarrass you if you show interest." That removes so much of a man's anxiety/worry.

I believe some men with legitimate anxiety disorders (OCD, for ex) genuinely are afraid that they'll be jailed for speaking to a woman. But realistically the worst thing that will happen is embarrassment- and you can be honest about how that REALLY sucks!

Men said this about approaching women too. "If I say hi to a woman at the gym, I'll be arrested for assault." The reality is that approaching women is scary, unpleasant, and regular old rejection really sucks. Having "they'll cancel me" is convenient as an excuse.

I keep getting replies insisting that young people don’t want to socialize because they’re afraid they’ll be canceled online for doing something stupid. But I just don't buy that this is a major driver of people’s actions. Even though this kind of thing *does* happen, it’s extremely rare on the population level. Not partying because you're afraid someone will post your dumb comment online makes about as much sense as saying you won’t go on dates because you're afraid of being falsely accused of SA. Like, sure, that can happen, but it's nuts to let that keep you from dating. And if you say that's your reason for not dating, I don't really believe you!

@JerryLDean That actually is the law. I worked as a child support prosecutor for a few years. Single mothers cannot receive welfare (and other govt benefits) if they do not assist the state in getting a child support order, because child support might reduce the need for govt benefits.
