I keep getting replies insisting that young people don’t want to socialize because they’re afraid they’ll be canceled online for doing something stupid. But I just don't buy that this is a major driver of people’s actions. Even though this kind of thing *does* happen, it’s extremely rare on the population level. Not partying because you're afraid someone will post your dumb comment online makes about as much sense as saying you won’t go on dates because you're afraid of being falsely accused of SA. Like, sure, that can happen, but it's nuts to let that keep you from dating. And if you say that's your reason for not dating, I don't really believe you!
