In the 1990s, India was facing a Biological Colonization. If Dr. R.A. Mashelkar had not stepped in, we might have ended up paying a royalty to a US corporation every time we used turmeric on a wound/exported Basmati rice. In 1997, a Texas-based company called RiceTec was granted a patent by the USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office) for Basmati Rice lines & grains. They claimed they had invented a superior strain of rice. Mashelkar realized that if this patent stood, Indian farmers would be barred from selling their own rice under the name Basmati in the US. It was a theft of Geographical Intellectual Property. He did not just shout Injustice. He assembled a team to find Genetic Fingerprints. They proved that the new rice was actually derived from Indian germplasm that had existed for centuries. The USPTO was forced to strike down the majority of the claims. 2 researchers at the University of Mississippi were granted a patent for the use of turmeric in healing wounds. To a Western patent officer, this was a novel invention. To an Indian, it was something their grandmother did every day. Mashelkar produced an ancient Sanskrit text as Prior Art. The USPTO demanded a translation. He provided evidence from the Journal of the Indian Medical Association dating back to 1953 + ancient Ayurvedic texts. This was the 1st time in history that a patent granted to a US entity was successfully challenged & revoked based on the Traditional Knowledge of a developing country. Mashelkar also realized that India could not fight 10000 legal battles every yr. He needed a Scalable Solution. Patent officers in the West were not malicious; they were just Data Blind. They could not read Sanskrit/Tamil/Persian. If a discovery was not in an English journal, it did not exist in their system. He hired 100s of experts (Ayurveda practitioners, IT engineers, & Patent lawyers). They took 500000+ formulations & converted them into a digitized Shloka to Code format. The data was rendered in English, French, German, Japanese, & Spanish. Today, India has signed agreements with the USPTO, the European Patent Office, & others. Before an officer grants a patent, they run a TKDL Scan. If the herb/method is in the library, the patent is rejected instantly.

A historic opportunity lost. BJP had two third majority not once but twice and they are now lamenting they do not have two third majority now to pass bills and implement measures to ensure justice for Hindus. They were and are like congress which has become in effect Muslim league. OK BJP and its famous PM, your egacy will haunt Hindu society for ever. Hindus trusted you and you seem to have betrayed them. We are awaiting a true Hindu leader like Shivaji to lead the masses and save their land and its people.

Karnataka is the second driest state after Rajasthan and drought prone. Yet between 2016 and 2023, the area for the water guzzling sugarcane doubled from 3.7 lakh hectares in 2016 to 6.9 lakh hectares. ~20 million litres of water is required per hectare for sugarcane. That is ~14 trillion litres of water = 490 TMC. To put in perspective, Kaveri river has ~740 TMC in a good monsoon. Karnataka’s share is ~285 TMC. It’s madness to encourage ethanol production.
Yusuf Unjhawala 🇮🇳@YusufDFI

Ethanol is NOT the solution to our oil import dependency. We are a water stressed country. How much exactly do we “save” with blending and will that be worth the cost of reaching a stage when we have to desalinate ocean waters to fulfil our needs?

To save 1 litre of imported crude, India is spending 2,860 litres of groundwater. That's the single statistic missing from the entire E85 debate. E20 is done. The government's draft notification for E85 (85% ethanol, 15% petrol) is ready. Most reactions are either "great, energy independence" or "my mileage dropped." Both are shallow. Here is the actual trade India is making. The economic logic is real: India imports 85%+ of its crude. The FY25 import bill was ~$137 billion. Ethanol blending has already saved ₹1.08 lakh crore in forex and put ~₹92,000 crore in farmers' hands since inception. Every 1% of blending = ~$1 billion in annual savings. But ethanol is not a free lunch: 🔹 Ethanol has 33% less energy per litre than petrol. 🔹 US DoE data: FFVs on E85 get 15 to 27% fewer miles per gallon than on petrol. 🔹 The offset is octane. E85 rates ~105 vs petrol's 91. In purpose-built engines (turbo, high-compression, direct injection), higher octane recovers most of the energy loss. The catch. India's fleet is 90% E10-ready at best. You cannot pour E85 into a Swift. Flex-fuel vehicles need stainless fuel lines, upgraded pumps, 30% larger injectors, ethanol content sensors, and recalibrated engine maps. The hidden cost nobody is pricing: 🔸 E20 at today's consumption needs ~1,016 crore litres of ethanol annually. 🔸 At 2,860 litres of water per litre of ethanol, that is ~2.9 trillion litres of water per year. The annual water footprint of 200+ million Indians. 🔸 E85 scales this 4x+. 🔸 60% of India's ethanol now comes from maize and broken rice. India, a net corn exporter, imported 1 million tonnes of corn in 2024 because of ethanol diversion. 🔸 Retail sugar moved from ₹40 to ₹45/kg in two years partly due to cane diversion. The reframe most people miss: The ethanol programme is not an energy policy. It is an agricultural subsidy dressed as an energy policy. The forex savings are real. The farmer income transfer is real. Both are the actual goals. The mileage drop is a tolerated cost. The water and food inflation risk is the hidden tax. E85 will happen anyway. The listed winners sit in three buckets: 🔸 Sugar and distillery players with integrated ethanol capacity 🔸 Auto ancillaries making ethanol-compatible injectors, pumps, fuel lines, sensors 🔸 OEMs going flex-fuel first (Toyota, Maruti and Hyundai are already prototyping) Energy independence is not free. India is trading barrels of oil for billions of litres of water and millions of tonnes of grain. Whether it's worth it depends on which constraint matters more in 2040 — your oil bill, or your aquifer.

Now it's Accenture! In an interview, Monika Reddy, founder of the Hindu Human Rights collective, shared the story of a newly married Hindu woman who was targeted, abused, and even raped by Islamists at Accenture office. She narrated that in 2025, a housekeeping woman from Madhya Pradesh used to work at the Accenture Waverock office in Hyderabad. One day while working, a 45-year-old Muslim woman approached her and said, “Take this number and talk to him. He finds you really beautiful and wants to be friends with you.” The victim was shocked because the Muslim woman knew she was married, yet she still approached her. She simply dismissed it. After this incident, another Muslim man working in the office dragged her into the men’s restroom and raped her. Not only did he rape her, but he also dialed his own number from her phone for further mobile-based threatening. In the coming days, as the victim and the accused man were assigned to clean the same block, he would pass lewd comments on her, touch her inappropriately, and harass her in other ways. It was only when her husband observed some changes in her behaviour and asked that the matter came out. . The accused was then booked.

Let me remind the BJP that you have done almost nothing to stop Muslim infiltration, love Jihad or geometric population rise of Minority, nor have you tried to bring in Indic values and Dharmic traditions. Forget about correcting history, educating Hindu children, Hindu renaissance or temple liberation. If Hindus want to avoid the dire situation faced by their forefathers in earlier Afghan, Indonesia, Pak and Bangla take constructive & immadiate action to foce the cenral govt to contol, better ban, coversion, geomeric rise of minority populaion, Muslim illegal immigraion & infiltraion, equaliy in the constitution, and free temples from govt control. Oherwise be prepared to meet painful extinction in fuure.

As a Muslim, I find it strange how ‘annihilate Hinduism’ is packaged as academic discussion. Try flipping the religion and see how fast the global response comes. If annihilation of a religion becomes acceptable language, we’ve already failed the idea of coexistence.

Fun facts: A) First Battle of Panipat saw Babur using Indian villagers as human shields. He didn’t establish Mughal rule in India; rather, he established Timurid rule in Delhi and a few other northern parts of Bharat. B) Timurid rule technically ended in 1764 (Battle of Buxar), although one can say it was already gone with the fall of Aurangzeb. The British actually took Delhi from the Marathas, not the Timurids. C) Babur didn’t see himself as Mongol or Mughal and often abused Mughals for being uncivilised and problematic folks.
SANJAY HEGDE@sanjayuvacha

Today is the 500th anniversary of the first battle of Panipat, thus 500 years since the establishment of Mughal rule in India. Fun fact, Babar defeated Ibrahim Lodhi. Muslim rule over Delhi and north India began nearly 400 years prior to Panipat. Fun fact 2, Mughal rule ended in 1857 nearly 175 years ago. Fun fact 3 the Mongols/Mughals had been trying to capture North India for nearly 250 years before Babur's win. History plays the long game .

Mr. Prakash, It is good that you take pride in being an Indian, but it is not good to hate Modi’s party just because you support the Congress Party. What you see in the picture on the Saudi side is the Deputy Minister of Political Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati, not an airport security director as you claim.
Tejasswi Prakash@Tiju0Prakash

Ajit Doval arrives in Saudi Arabia, and gets humiliatingly ignored. No Saudi official bothers to show up. Only the airport security director is sent to "welcome" India's NSA. Modi's so-called "global leader" era has reduced India to this: our top security advisor treated like an unwanted guest. Total diplomatic humiliation!
