Doug’s comments here are cliche leftist messages with the usual language: “illegal war” “warmongering politicians” “working class Aussie” victims. All the usual stuff. Most of it short-term thinking and low level analysis of a very complex situation. Left wing podcasters like Friendly Jordies and Punters Politics still dwarf the numbers of their right wing counterparts. Despite how algos might make us feel like we are winning, we are far from it. When assessing public opinion we need to understand what we are up against. The left in Australia remain very powerful and they still own the culture and most narratives of how people see reality. This can’t change with a @LiberalAus appeasement approach. It needs an assertive @OneNationAus @Barnaby_Joyce @PaulineHansonOz approach. Engaging with the US in this war effort to deal with the decades old Iran problem is an issue upon which the right is divided. In these cases, victory is certain for the side aligned with the left.
