@FoodProfessor I'm a Canadian living in the UK- the dairy is far superior here and much cheaper. Canadians don't know what they're missing!

Cantaloupes: Impact of the Recall. Cantaloupes were being sold for an average price of $4.99 in Canada on November 1st. Since the recall, prices have dropped significantly to $2.99, and consumer demand has notably decreased.

Americans are done asking nicely
Sen. Dan Sullivan@SenDanSullivan

.@NORADCommand has a unique binational responsibility of defending both 🇺🇸and 🇨🇦. Unfortunately, Canada doesn’t even come close to pulling its weight on defense spending. Today in @SASCGOP, I asked Lt. General Guillot, nominee to assume command of NORAD, whether he will press the Canadians on their obligations.

@BobRae48 On this, I disagree. We are a free rider in NATO. The numbers don't lie.

Anyone else looking at the price tag for the World Cup and wondering how many nuclear plants they could’ve built for that price? For comparison UAE is building 4 Korean APR 1400s for 24.4 billion which will meet 25% of their electricity needs.

@smsaideman Not much gas left in the tank of the CAF right now - leading a multinational mission would be quite a stretch, I think maybe.

@gmbutts @FP_Champagne I agree -he’s been doing an excellent job. Canada can be a green economy powerhouse with political will and some get shit done focus, both of which he has. After he’s done with innovation, he should move into Natural Resources to facilitate the digging up of the stuff we need.

@acoyne The shift back to realism is a welcome tone - the fact is Canada is well positioned (name a better country) to provide allies with all raw materials it needs to get through the energy transition beyond - all it takes is political willpower and some focused get shit done energy.

@NoNukeBailouts Also the risks stated are sensationalized and can be safely managed (history has shown). All other forms of power generation are responsible for greater losses of human life vs Nuclear - fact.

@NoNukeBailouts Angela, respectfully, getting to net zero must include Nuclear. It’s a math problem that can’t be solved otherwise if we concurrently intend to cut reliance on petrochemicals. Wind and solar are great - but it’s an idealistic view that they will entirely fill the baseload gap.

@AaronUniversal @robb1011 @Kevin92080704 @TreyLockerbie Nobody said the government should raise your kids. It’s about choice. Don’t take my word for it - ask the millions of moms who choose to take advantage of the program who quite like it as it allows them to get back into the workforce and carry on with their careers.

How are average Americans expected to pay $1-2k/mo for daycare ages 2-5 with pick up times at 2 or 3pm?

@theyoungrossco @robb1011 @Kevin92080704 @TreyLockerbie No one is being forced to work - they have the choice. Given the percentage of moms who have decided to take advantage of the program and get back in the workforce (world leading stats) I’d say the program for the moms is a popular choice.

@sollocl @robb1011 @Kevin92080704 @TreyLockerbie Having both parents being required to work because inflation and tax is so high from this such that they have to both work & get others to subsidize their children in government approved institutions is bad IMO. Better to leave the choice to the family and not force an outcome.
