We do say no to screens. The problem is that most kids’ lives have been consumed by them. So the experience for kids who are not screen addicted is fundamentally different. Being an outdoorsy kid isolating now in a way that it’s never been before, ever in history. This is an objective data point, not just anecdotal. Kids on average are spending 50 percent less time outdoors, and that’s the more conservative estimate. Add in mass migration and the fact that people are having fewer kids, and having them later in life, and you have a scenario that is just simply unlike anything anyone over the age of 30 experienced as a kid. Something very real and very important has been lost. That’s just a fact.

@MattWalshBlog Banning the use of computers, phones, tablets etc in elementary school sounds like a good idea. Books, notebooks, pen and paper is all the kids need. Its probably more important than ever that they remove technology completely from schools.
