For seven consecutive seasons since 2019, the Los Angeles Dodgers re-signed outfielder Andrew Toles, who has Schizophrenia so he could keep access to the team’s health insurance and mental health services.
He wasn’t expected to return to the field but the team support allowed him to continue to receive, medication, therapy and counselling.

New calling incoming. Got a text from the executive secretary this morning asking if I could meet after church (I couldn't because of the mission farewell we were at). Meeting Wednesday evening evening before mutual. It can't be RS presidency because that just happened last week, Primary presidency because that happened a few weeks ago, SS presidency because that was a month ago, or YW's presidency because that was about 6 months ago. 🤔

@TolentinoTeach Don't give them the attention they are looking for. It's like like dopamine, they seek attention, you give it, they continue to seek. And if they don't stop you contact their their parents. You can't let them sabotage learning for the group. You have to close that down.

In many classrooms, there are one to two students whose behavior consumes a disproportionate amount of attention.
Over the span of a school year, this adds up to hours of missed reading, writing, discussion and deep work for everyone else.
Just the presence of these students is a disruption.

Headed to Tokyo in 2 weeks and have discovered a gyoza place where they bring you 5 at a time until you say stop. Their pricing sign goes up to 38 plates or 190 gyoza. Starting to think of it as a challenge…

Welllll I wouldn't say that childbirth deaths are at a "statistically insignificant" level yet, however yes you are absolutely right that there is almost never a conflict between the life of the mother and the life of the baby. And even if there is, during the delivery there is a full medical team there for the mom and another separate team for the baby who are all working together to get both of you through it safely

Women dying in childbirth ceased being a statistically significant thing in 1940s when penicillin was invented. A practicing obstetrician is unlikely to have ever had an instance of conflict between mother & babies life, because thats not how modern medicine works.

when my obstetrics professor was like "in an emergency situation we do everything possible to save the baby" and i was like ".....and the mother 🤓" and she was like "well yes but the baby is our priority"

This almost happened when Grandma died. 5/6 of her kids wanted the house to go to her son who had lived with and enabled her to stay in her home until she passed. One selfish uncle wanted the house sold and profits split. His kids shamed him into doing the right thing.

My unpopular opinion: This is financial abuse. Parents do it too. Families need to stop stonewalling about who will inherit what. You know how many times I’ve heard the “adult daughter did all elderly caretaking while parents secretly left house to son” scenario?

@spartancynthia @JamesAFurey No, I know what it means in education, but I don’t understand the point about churches not having flexible seating. You’re not given an assigned seat, you can sit in pretty much any pew you want.

It’s almost like, if you want people to listen to you, they should be in rows of seats facing the front.

@theaetist @JamesAFurey In education, flexible seating means that kids can sit on the floor, cushions(I’ve seen couches in some classrooms), stand, sit on yoga balls, in rocker chairs, choose where/who they sit and change throughout the day.
