@wesstreeting The event in Trafalgar Square today was an open-air theatrical play not a predominantly Muslim segregated prayer session. Its a large-scale dramatic production which appears to be very diverse & inclusive with no segregation based on gender so it is nothing like the islamic event

It would be nice if all the people outraged by Muslim prayers in Trafalgar Square shared this wonderful post about the Passion in the square today. On my way to church this afternoon, I saw local rabbis in Gants Hill and Muslims going for Friday prayers. This is 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

Today, thousands of Londoners from all backgrounds gathered in Trafalgar Square to watch the Passion of Jesus, performed by @WintershallPlay. My best wishes to all Christians observing Good Friday - a time to reflect on Jesus Christ’s message of courage, compassion and empathy.

Two unpleasant experiences today. 1 Big man in his 20s/30s suddenly started threatening a young man who was with a female friend on the train I was travelling on. I went to sit next to the victim to protect him and his friend and called the police. 2 Drunk man in his 50s/60s at local store on the south coast throwing his weight around while waiting for the bus. Both white English men. Presumably those obsessed with cultural and ethnic identity will tell me I should be worried about white English culture after these two threatening encounters within the space of four hours?

@mackeydee88 @GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski It would bring in over £6.5B in tax per year if we increase production of oil/gas in the NS if the gov has more money coming into the Exchequer it can freeze/lower taxes it can pay for more things without pumping the public for the ££ therefore reducing the cost of living burden

@mackeydee88 @GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski So you are saying its better to not produce our own oil & gas in the NS & import our energy paying others £Bs like Norway all whilst missing out on average of £6.5Bn/yr in tax revenue which would be more if they extracted more. Were still going to be using oil/gas for next 25+yrs

I’ve got pals who’ve completed masters at uni and can’t land jobs, housing has never been more expensive; highest tax burden since ww2. But it’s ok. Reform have thrown a tea party for the wealthiest generation in history.

@mackeydee88 @GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski As of April 2026 an oil/gas company extracting from the UK North Sea faces a specialized tax regime with a marginal tax rate of 78%. Oil & gas companies have paid an average of £6.5 billion per yr in tax over the last 3 financial years (2022/23 to 2024/25). Drill more pay more

@speaksyn @GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski You are forgetting that North Sea gas is not owned by the UK (thanks to cunt maggie). Private companies sell the gas to the market and the uk has to buy it back at market rate. So where are you getting this tax income from?

@mackeydee88 @GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski No the UK doesnt import all its gas It currently produces around 40-55% of its natural gas from the North Sea. The remainder is imported primarily from Norway. So why the fuck are we not just producing 100% ourselves reaping the tax income from it adding security & jobs

@GhostHexpat @jezm @ZackPolanski The reason our bills are higher than other countries has almost nothing to do with renewables you clown. We are hugely gas dependant for energy and import 100% of it making us extremely susceptible to price shock. Do your research you thick fucker!

@JToulson @_ManFromUncle @ReformSecYork @CarolineLucas @BBCr4today The oil/gas sector currently brings in significantly more direct tax revenue for the UK Gov than the renewable energy sector. Oil/gas sector also maintains higher average salaries = more income tax. More NS oil/gas means gov could cut tax bringing costs to consumers down

Did @BBCr4today really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today

@N_Shirtcliffe @BrownCcfc @dave43law Data indicates that SB crossings havent been massively reduced under Labour. As of 2/4/26 69,480 arrived on SB since Starmer became PM on 5/7/24. In the 2yr period prior to Starmer becoming PM 7/22-7/24 75,953 arrived via SB so if the average continues it will be about the same

@BrownCcfc @dave43law Labour have massively reduced it. Shouting at hotels and pointing at boats certainly did nothing to help that. Rejoining the EU would help too.

Britain smashed more renewable energy records last year. Wind delivered 30% of electricity, solar generation grew by 37% & UK emissions fell to 54% of 1990 levels. More clean power means more control over our energy security, bills and our future.

For more than four decades, miners and their families have been forced to live with unanswered questions. Today, I am formally launching the Orgreave Inquiry to uncover the truth of what happened. I pay tribute to the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, the National Union of Mineworkers, and all those who campaigned so tirelessly to reach this moment.

On the contrary, "Smash the gangs" has resulted in over 4000 arrests, 900 gangs smashed, half the boats attempting to launch being stopped, thousands of rubber boats & motors seized, importers closed down & 38,000 people with no right to be here deported *in 1 year* under Labour.
