" The soft left’s plan to end Labour’s factional wars" would be a lot more believable if Mainstream's NEC candidates hadn't hooked up with the Corbynite factionalists of Momentum in the "Reset the Labour Party" joint venture. Mainstream aren't about ending factionalism. They are just a new faction, which far from being independent or equidistant in the party appears to be allied to the previously moribund Momentum.

Excl: Ministers should consider proscribing a militant transgender activist group which has targeted the offices of MPs, the government’s former adviser on political violence has said. Writing in The Times, @LordWalney said the conduct of the group Bash Back “deserves far more serious attention than it has so far received” and that ministers should test it against the same threshold that led to the proscription of Palestine Action. The Times previously revealed that the group had produced a guide for members urging them to arm themselves and carry out repeated illegal attacks on MPs and organisations. It comes after a court heard this week that Ann Widdecombe was struck 21 times on the head with a hammer. Walney stressed that he made no suggestion about who was responsible while proceedings were active, but said it was “a fair observation” that Bash Back had withdrawn none of its material since her death. “Not one image of masked, hammer-wielding activists. Not the guide instructing supporters to select political targets and strike them until they desist,” he said. “An organisation genuinely committed to non-violence, watching the country absorb the killing of a public figure in her own home, would have paused. This one did not.” thetimes.com/article/92edc1…

Seems to ignore that this was defeated overwhelmingly in a Referendum when only TEN place supported change, six inner London Boroughs, Oxford, Cambridge and the university seats in Glasgow and Edinburgh, elitists of the world unite

When you invite hordes of crazies into your party after Labour kicked them out and then worry that they are making it all a little too crazy, even for you, and you have to start thinking up ways to try and limit their influence. theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

This bullshit is an insult to service personnel and to the industry workers who make the ships, planes, guns and software that keep Putin deterred from attacking us. The labour movement has to grow up and stop deceiving itself that defence = "militarism". I'm glad the Labour Party itself is immune
Andrea Egan UNISON General Secretary@AndreaEganGS

Every penny that goes to the military is money that could have gone to our public services. From my speech at RMT's AGM.

Bit rich for a party that now happily fields candidates who've been prosecuted for operating an illegal waste disposal facility, or cheered on Hamas or been on demos in support of the Ayatollah to talk about political parties ditching their brand.

I'd genuinely appreciate it if someone could explain how a progressive alliance between Labour and the Greens would work. Almost every Green target seat is held by Labour, so unless this means us unilaterally disarming in 50 or so seats, I don't understand how it could work.

well said Luke , same old nonsense comes round once again , demands for a Popular Front with Parties who are dedicated to undermining, replacing and destroying Labour and our traditions, we have recovered before by understanding and responding to, and delivering for,the voters
Luke Akehurst@lukeakehurst

Andy needs to distance himself from this nonsense about alliances with toxic parties like the Greens and SNP as quickly as possible: news.sky.com/story/burnham-… We need Labour to deliver in government and win re-election based on its record, not dodgy deals with parties that want to destroy and replace us.

A day after two men were stabbed in Golders Green, the latest sign of radicalised antisemitism, @BritishVogue featured a glowing interview with the UN’s chief antisemite @FranceskAlbs What this piece put in, and more importantly what it left out, reveals how normalised subtle antisemitism can be and - as a journalist, I’m ashamed to say - the media’s own role in it. I want to show you what I mean: A 🧵
