occurs to me that it probably doesn't matter if we destroy all of iran's industrial infrastructure full stop because external parties can continue to send them large quantities of cheap standoff weapons anyway hurm
IDF Farsi@IDFFarsi

@tszzl Feels like the wheels are coming off a bit. Seeing surprising bugs in app. And so many core features stagnant (projects/gpts), broken (search), or nonexistent (health, cli/local file control). Thoughts?

it also means “manhattan projects” were not really in the option space, you just have to consistently out accelerate your adversaries in public

it’s a difficult position to be in when all your private comms are de facto public comms. it means you may as well coordinate in public, which is hard to balance with the basic principle of “don’t argue with the family in front of strangers”

it would be fairly funny in an extremely dark sense if trump turned around and used this to extort gulf states, who would be far more hurt by iran's offer than we would be

There is definitely value to humanoid robots, but I’d bet pretty heavily on a few standardized form factors w humanoid being one of them that’s relatively expensive, vastly outnumbered by other smaller or simpler ones.
Humanoids daily@humanoidsdaily

Mark Cuban isn't buying the humanoid hype. 📉 On the @tbpn podcast he predicted humanoid robots will "fail miserably" within 5-10 years. His logic? We won't build robots to fit our homes; we’ll redesign our homes to fit "optimal" robots—like spider-bots and robot elevators. 🐜🏠

@bg2clips Lately they’ve been on a monthly Fibonacci sequence lol. I imagine it slows quite a bit soon but just insane. Growing 30% annually is impressive when you’re a billion dollar company. Anthropic’s been doing more than that monthly!

📈 Brad Gerstner on the insane revenue numbers coming out of Anthropic: "We had a $6 billion month out of Anthropic in February...It was only a 28-day month. That's more revenue than the annual revenue of Databricks and Snowflake – that are two of the greatest software companies of all time after 12 years, right? They could do, in the first four or five months of this year, the total revenue of SpaceX this year." –@altcap on @theallinpod

I am just a guy that likes making my maps but I do feel somewhat compelled to say that Iran has a particularly good power grid, and gas distribution network. Like nearly impossible to destroy. I mean, I think Iran has a better gas transmission footprint than Canada. I know know who this tweet is for, but maybe these maps are helpful. In 2017, Iran exported 7,871 GWh and imported ~4 kWh, mainly exporting to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Iran's 4.3MWh per capita of annual electricity consumption is actually in-line with the UK at 4.6MWh per capita, and ~25% ahead of countries like Brazil and South Africa. Attacking a very hardened system like this, and opening the Gulf up to attacks on far more single-failure-point assets -- seems wildly, WILDLY stupid.

@emollick Claude or Claude code? I’ve been playing with skills I’m cc and there are only a few core ones you can’t remove. Even if you can’t, you should be able to redirect to your skills via global Claude.md instructions.

Is there any way to turn off the frontend design skill in Claude for the web? It seems like some default Anthropic skills are always available to the chatbot, making it hard to get it to use your skills when doing tasks the default skills also cover.

project hail mary was unfortunately a middling adaptation of a good book. the script has the unfortunate affect of “language model populism” - where every single line has to be some sort of punched up comedic zinger yet still unremarkable. visuals were uninspired and trite and more or less identical to other space movies. everything good about the film comes from the wonderful world scaffolding of the book and the hard science fiction of it all that lets you suspend disbelief on the alien rocky the movie doesn’t really try to get into the xenolinguistic stuff even at the depth the book tries (someone called it “arrival for idiots” which unfortunately hit ) the thing that elevated the book is the commitment to a hard science fiction engineeringporn fiction at a level nobody else is able to write. the direction of the movie doesn’t really convey the same feeling successfully, and you’re left with flat characters, an alien that is more human than several humans i know, and a marvel populism gosling and the german woman are great as actors, but this movie will not be remembered in a year. it is disappointing to see people do so little with a quarter billion, insane acting talent, and incredible source IP

@tszzl @karpathy I would kill for a hard tech sci-fi movie that didn’t talk down to the audience. FWIW they did the same thing with The Martian and it’s unwatchable.
