@unseen1_unseen Trump is extraordinarily popular with Rs. He is extraordinarily unpopular with everyone else. The R primary only had Rs voting in it. TX is so red it may not make a difference, but I’d rather not have a -19 net approval (TX R, I, & D) boat anchor attached to my campaign.

I want to point out again, that you do not get the result you got in TX if the president has an approval rating in the low 30s. Either the results are fake or the polls are fake. You be the judge.

The momentum to finally “ditch the switch” is growing. Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced my provision to make Daylight Saving Time permanent year-round, moving this commonsense reform one step closer to becoming law. Americans are tired of the disruptive and outdated twice-yearly clock change, and it’s time Congress acts. Permanent Daylight Saving Time would provide brighter evenings, promote outdoor activity, support local businesses and tourism, and help families avoid the unnecessary disruption caused by changing the clocks twice every year. Floridians have led the charge on this issue for years, and I’m proud to continue fighting to end the biannual clock change once and for all. msn.com/en-us/news/pol…

@MrEncouragement @JustinWilmethAZ Because when it’s actually tried, people realize they hate it being so dark so late in winter. Maybe, just maybe, we should try the option that isn’t a horrible failure every time it’s tried?

Going to Permanent Daylight Saving Time would be unwise. It was tried in the 70s already. Pointless to do again. Railroad companies brought America its current four mainland time zones in the 1880s as a way to standardize arrival times for trains. In 1918, the Standard Time Act fully enshrined that system into law. And, in 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act. Arizona opted out of the UTA in 1968 because, uh, NO ONE HERE WANTED THE SUN UP IN JUNE AT 8:42pm! Without my Legislative ancestors opting out of Saving Time way back when, we’d still have the sun up at 8pm in late June in Phoenix and it wouldn’t be entirely dark here until 9:13pm. I love not changing my clocks ever. One of the many amazing things about why I love it here. All that said - ditch Saving Time completely and #StandardizeStandard @SaveStandard
Russ Diamond@russdiamond

Stop changing clocks = GOOD. Permanent Daylight Saving time = BAD. It was tried in 1974 as an experiment and was so unpopular Congress cancelled the experiment before it was over. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Permanent Standard Time (my HB119) is the healthier, more geographically appropriate choice. And it's already federally approved. @SaveStandard @SupportStandard

For years, Floridians have made their voices clear - the twice-yearly clock change is disruptive, outdated, and no longer serves the needs of today’s families, schools, or economy. That’s why I’m proud to lead the charge alongside my colleague @VernBuchanan to end the biannual time change and make Daylight Saving Time permanent. Our provision passed out of the Energy and Commerce Committee this week. This commonsense reform will provide greater stability, more usable evening daylight, and meaningful benefits for our communities - supporting economic activity, improving safety on our roads, and enhancing overall quality of life.

@MrsCMFrancis I used to think this too, but the factors that led to everyone hating permanent DST last time we tried it & repealed months later will either: A) Cause it to fail again, or B) Lead to schedule changes that will make someone in 30 years say “Let’s change the clocks in summer…”

@SaveStandard Please oppose the incorporation of HR 139 "Sunshine Protection Act" into HR 7389 @RepMMM ! We already tried permanent DST and it failed miserably! Let’s lock the clock on STANDARD time! It’s called “standard” for a reason and works great for Arizona and Hawaii.

🚨 On May 21, the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce adopted an amendment in the nature of a substitute (AINS) to H.R.7389 “Motor Vehicle Modernization Act” and voted to report it to the full House. Section 311 of the AINS incorporates H.R.139 "Sunshine Protection Act," which would impose year-round Daylight Saving Time on all states not already opting out of DST, and would repeal the current option to self-exempt from DST for any states considering permanent Standard Time in the future. 👉 Tell your members of Congress to oppose permanent DST, amend the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act to remove the Sunshine Protection Act, and to restore permanent Standard Time instead, for natural health, safety, and prosperity! 0:00 Chair calls H.R.7389 1:02 Rep Dingell 6:17 Rep Gabe Evans 9:33 Rep Ruiz 12:07 Rep James 14:04 Rep Soto 17:46 Rep Trahan 21:21 Rep Barragán 24:26 Rep Auchincloss 27:42 Question by Rep Ocasio-Cortez 29:26 Amendment in the nature of a substitute (AINS) 29:49 Chair Guthrie 31:04 Ranking Member Pallone 33:21 Rep Dunn 37:43 Rep Matsui 39:45 Rep Bilirakis 43:02 Rep Clarke 46:17 Rep Obernolte 49:58 Rep Dingell 55:42 Rep Langworthy 57:34 Rep Veasey 1:00:56 Rep Robin Kelly 1:03:34 Rep Barragán 1:05:21 Rep Schrier 1:07:08 Rep Mullin 1:09:38 Rep Troy Carter 1:13:00 Amendment by Rep Latta 1:19:31 Rep Dingell 1:24:43 Rep Bilirakis 1:26:16 Rep Balderson 1:27:41 Rep Houchin 1:30:05 Rep Miller-Meeks 1:32:35 Amendment by Rep Harshbarger 1:35:39 Amendment by Rep Dingell 1:39:13 Amendment by Rep Palmer 1:45:24 Amendment by Chair Guthrie 1:46:54 Ranking Member Pallone 1:48:56 Rep Trahan 1:50:30 Votes

On this day in 1974, the United States experiments with permanent Daylight Saving Time. An energy crisis had prompted Congress to “spring forward” on January 6. The plan was to stay there, without “falling back” to Standard Time, for nearly two years. The experiment didn’t last long. Instead, it was cut short after just ten months. /1 of X #storytime 🧵👇

@SenTuberville Yes, lock the clock, but lock it to STANDARD time!!!! We’ve tried permanent DST before & it was so hated, it was repealed in months! Tried elsewhere, hated, & reversed there too. Meanwhile Arizona & Hawaii are fine on permanent Standard time. Don’t make the same mistake again!

🚨 FINALLY! Congress is finally moving to END the stupid clock changes twice a year. I fought for this in the Florida Legislature, and now it’s time to get it done nationwide. Changing the clocks is a ridiculous practice, and Americans are sick of it… keep the sunshine and lock the clock! ☀️
Gunther Eagleman™@GuntherEagleman

🚨 BIG WIN: President Trump just scored a MASSIVE 48-1 committee victory on the Sunshine Protection Act, making Daylight Saving Time PERMANENT! No more wasting hundreds of millions twice a year screwing with clocks in towers, cities, and states. Attached to the Highway Bill and heading to the House. Trump is pushing hard to get it signed into law. Longer, brighter evenings for American families. Make America Bright Again!

Trump on the campaign trail is music to the Democrats ears. Bring on his talk of the affordability hoax, the cognitive test they give to people who have had traumatic brain injuries, and that we have the hottest economy in the world. Trump is cratering support with key demographics: republicans, non-MAGA GOP, white voters, rural voters. Democrats are winning election after election. Rob Sand may be the governor of Iowa! Greg Abbott says behind closed doors that a Democrat could win statewide. And even folks like Josh Hawley admit there are no GOP accomplishments to speak of. A Republican campaign built on maligning Americans’ cost of living concerns, a vanity ballroom, and a slush fund for criminals is a loser.
