A Brazilian YouTuber killed the Photoshop subscription. It's called PhotoGIMP. It takes GIMP, the free image editor, and makes it look and feel exactly like Photoshop. Same toolbar. Same panel layout. Same keyboard shortcuts. Your hands already know how to use it. Photoshop vs PhotoGIMP: - Price: $275.88 a year → $0 - Account: Adobe login required → No login, ever - Files: Saved to Adobe cloud → Saved on your computer - Updates: Forced when Adobe says → Only when you want - Works on: Windows and Mac → Windows, Mac, and Linux No Adobe account. No cloud upload. No AI trained on your photos. How small is the patch? Tiny. → Nine settings files. That's it. → Copy them into one folder. Done. → Open GIMP. It now looks like Photoshop. → Don't like it? Delete the folder. GIMP goes back to normal. Three steps to install. One command to uninstall. 8,751 stars. 272 forks. 30+ people from around the world helping translate it. One honest note: the license is GPL-3.0. Free for everything. Personal work, paid client work, your own edits. No "Pro" tier hiding behind it. Dionatan Simioni runs the biggest Linux YouTube channel in Brazil. He built this from Marau, a small town in Rio Grande do Sul. No VC. No team. No fundraise. This is what Photoshop should have been from the start. (Link in the comments)

After building & migrating 100s of WordPress sites, I finally launched my own plugin: Swish Backup, Backup, migrate, duplicate and restore your entire site in a few clicks.
Would mean a lot if you check it out 🙏

I stepped away from WordPress over the last few months to focus on other projects. Diving back in over the next few weeks to rebuild a small Woo site and get it ready for 7.0. What are the most important things I missed? What are you most exited for in 7.0?

@Shopify isn't it too risky to give such sensitive access to an AI? Reading store is good but writing access????? Sorry.🫤🫤

This was just merged into Gutenberg trunk, and it’s a much bigger deal than it looks 👇 WordPress is getting a native UI to create custom post types. No code. No plugins. Just: Settings → Post Types → Add That might sound small… it’s not. Custom post types go from “developer feature” → “everyday user feature” Which means: • Better structured content from day one • Easier onboarding • Less plugin dependency • A cleaner foundation for AI to understand your site And this is just the start. Post types → taxonomies → …you can probably guess what comes next You can see where this is heading… WordPress is becoming a powerful content modelling system 👀

Need suggestions.😟 I am redirecting a user from example.com to demo.com. Now, how can i verify (on demo.com) that the user is coming from example.com. I don't want to pass any params in the URL. How can I do it securely?

Your WordPress site costs you thousands a year and you don't even realize it Premium hosting. Paid plugins. That freelancer who takes 3 weeks to change a button color. Meanwhile I just built a full business website by talking to Claude Code. Hosting? $0/month on Cloudflare. Handles 70K-100K visits before you pay a cent. Free CDN. Free HTTPS. Free image optimization. The works. And then it gets wild... I gave it 2 prompts and now it remembers my entire design system. Colors, fonts, spacing, components. Every new page takes MINUTES because Claude already knows the rules. About page? One prompt. Blog? One prompt. Contact form? One prompt. The old way was $5K, 6 weeks, and a bunch of emails to a designer who ghosted you. This was a conversation and a git push. We built a whole course teaching non-technical people how to do this in our AI Accelerator. Honestly, I don't know what the argument for paying $5K is anymore.

If your WordPress site feels slow and painful to maintain, fix these before anything else: 1. Switch to a good caching plugin like WPRocket 2. Compress every image 3. Convert images to WebP or AVIF 4. Remove unused tracking scripts (like Facebook Pixel or others) Most "slow site" problems are just unoptimized images and external scripts.
