I have yet to see a benchmark where it is slower than the Zig implementation. It is basically the same codebase. It doesn’t use async rust and like the Zig implementation, uses few 3rd party libraries. It’s really the same thing just with better tools for us to prevent crashes.

Bun v1.3.14 releases tomorrow. If we do merge the Rust rewrite, this would be the last version in Zig

I love my Unifi router by ad blocking is so oddly buggy It never actually blocked any ad, then today it blocked an entire page, then I added that domain to the allow list but it keeps blocking it Interesting...

@RGW90 @VoxelPrismatic @IceSolst PWAs are actually a pretty good example, I wish more people knew about them. Do you know if browser version of discord supports PWAs? I might consider switching if it did.

@Jonathan_Blow The way i see it, AI is like being 60% of an expert in every field. If you’re more experienced than that, it can slow you down. If you’re less experienced, it speeds you up

@Jonathan_Blow @nicbarkeragain Maybe flag the string literals at compile time so that isStringLiteral() can check the flag at compile time as well. It should be possible since string literals are constants. I haven’t needed this feature, so I can’t say how useful it would be

@nicbarkeragain I have thought about implementing something like this, but it is deeply non-obvious how to do it without imposing a runtime cost for all strings.

I wish modern programming languages had a clearer way of distinguishing between string literals and runtime created strings. Even with "const" or "immutable" or similar there is always a mechanism to create those at runtime. I want a reliable "isStringLiteral(string)" function.

@Jonathan_Blow @levelsio @simeonkerkola @GolerGkA AI is a useful tool if you know exactly what you want at every step(this is the hard part). Otherwise, it’ll just take you down a long road to a dead end. And if you do know exactly what you want, it’s probably faster to just write the code yourself

@Jonathan_Blow @levelsio @simeonkerkola @GolerGkA AI is great for rapid prototyping, which is important from a business perspective(where other people need to be convinced) . But if a project is meant for long-term success, proper development takes over, and the prototype gets discarded or maybe salvaged

@levelsio @simeonkerkola @GolerGkA I'll put it this way: If you have never tried to make a game, I am sure it is fun to have a game-making experience. For those who have made games, even just simple ones, getting stuff on the screen is not impressive, it's easy; it's making the game *good* that is hard.

Honest and legitimate request for feedback for once: The new game I'm passionately working on is currently set to be a traditional roguelike (i.e. ADOM, nethack, etc) mixed with a tile based first person dungeon crawler (ie Legend of Grimrock (esp 2), Eye of the Beholder) But then I gots to thinking that maybe there are people who like my work but might not share my taste in retro nostalgia and would prefer for me to make a spiritual successor thing to Minecraft, and I mean sure, I'd take that cash. So market research. I'd be happy to oblige either, which one would make you happier?
