How do you make ambitious/upwardly mobile doctors, allied health, solicitors and small business owning people decide that the tradeoffs of living regionally are worth it? You make the schools really damn good. My old principal told me this and I've never forgotten it.

@rpondiscio @MrZachG @educationgadfly Especially in my state of Victoria it was practitioners who pushed policymakers rather than the other way around - I think @BenCarrollMP has said so. @buckingham_j was able to use research and educator voices to get policy changes starting with the Phonics Check a decade ago.
