@LongCovidHell I disagree with attendance rewards. My son had regular appointments with audiology so never made 100% attendance. Nothing to do with resilience. A disability. It’s discrimination.

My child has missed 3 days of school since Sept. 1x injury 2x illness He’s now exempt from all end of term rewards despite having enough house points, no sanctions and glowing reports from all teachers. If this happened in a workplace, adults could sue for discrimination.

@QcWynter Isn't the real issue here not phraseology, but the presumed need to respect something not worthy of respect?

Lawyers must be respectful in how they describe even the most abysmal of judgments. Some lawyers say "problematic". I tend to go for "interesting", "surprising" or, when reasoning is really poor, "remarkable". I stole "remarkable" from a retired SC Justice, who led me when a QC.

@MartinSLewis There are more choices than tertiary education, don’t discriminate against those who choose otherwise. Also people value things more if they have to pay even if only a contribution to the full cost

@JamesMelville There’s a place for rewilding. Pavements are not it.

So many UK pavements are covered in weeds and grass. It looks terrible. Local councils letting grass and weeds grow on pavements for rewilding to “increase urban biodiversity” is creating an ugly mess on our streets. Rewilding = can’t be arsed to clean.

@suespeaksup Another Great British institution that's bitten the dust I'm afraid Sue, along with the pop lorries, the paddy wagons, publication deliveries and the scrap merchants. A bygone era, superseded by expensive, modern-day living arrangements that they've the cheek to call progress!

Remember when the milkman used to be part of the morning routine? Glass bottles clinking, the quiet rattle of the float, and that little feeling of magic seeing fresh milk waiting on the doorstep before anyone else was even awake. It’s one of those simple, comforting bits of everyday life that just… disappeared. Makes me wonder does anyone still have a milkman in 2025? Or is it now just another childhood memory we all share?

@suespeaksup Everyone round here gets their milk delivered by the milkman. He also offers eggs, fruit juice and other dairy products. Isn’t this normal?
