@PeteStauber “Domestic critical minerals” - owned by a Chilean billionaire, shipped to China for smelting, sold on the world market. The only thing staying in MN is 500 years of pollution. At @staubermn, that’s what we call a great deal, for everyone except Americans. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

"Expanding domestic critical mineral development ought to be a bipartisan cause as China seeks to weaponize its control of the supply chain. The Duluth Complex beneath Minnesota’s Superior National Forest boasts nearly eight billion tons of critical minerals, including a large share of America’s reserves of nickel (95%), cobalt (88%) and copper (34%)." wsj.com/opinion/minnes…

A fellow man of the gavel! @ImSchultz knows how an auction works: GOING ONCE — 1.1M acres, 1,100 lakes, America’s most visited wilderness GOING TWICE — 70% of Minnesotans object, but we don’t take bids from the crowd SOLD! To the Chilean billionaire in the back! Minerals to China, profits to Santiago, 500 years of cleanup to Minnesota taxpayers. All sales final. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

@LightCassius @Michele_Tafoya Yeah, because they’re a foreign conglomerate that don’t give a single fuck about destroying Minnesota’s environment. Once they pull out of MN in 15 years, after making billions of dollars, they’ll be happy to pay the <$1mil fine for poisoning the largest watersheds on the planet.

Two things can be true at once: we can develop our natural resources and protect the Boundary Waters. With modern technology and strong oversight, Minnesota can set the gold standard for clean, responsible mining while preserving what makes our state special. This is an important first step in securing energy independence. Any project in Minnesota will go through a thorough permitting process that meets the highest environmental standards in the country. We have an opportunity to lead in responsible mining and produce the critical minerals our economy and national security depend on, without relying on foreign nations.

BREAKING: A major victory for America and Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District was secured today. The Senate just passed my bill to reverse Biden’s illegal mining ban in the Superior National Forest – it’s now headed to the President’s desk! Mining is our past, our present, and our future – and the future looks bright!

Hey @RepNickBegich — as Vice Chair of the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee, you know exactly what precedent your “good friend” just set. The CRA can now overturn ANY public land protection. Your Senator Murkowski opposed Pebble Mine for the same reasons Minnesotans opposed this one. She voted yes anyway. Alaska has more protected federal land than any state in the country. You just celebrated handing Congress the tool to sell every acre of it. Tongass. Arctic Refuge. Bristol Bay. At @staubermn, we’re already scouting new listings throughout Alaska! Know any foreign billionaires ready to buy?? staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

Congratulations to my good friend @RepPeteStauber on the passage of his Congressional Review Act Joint Resolution (H.J. Res 140) out of the Senate today. Rep. Stauber has been a staunch defender of America’s right and need to responsibly unlock the resources of the nation, and I’ve been proud to support him in his effort to deliver this generational victory to the people of Minnesota. Well done Pete!

Yesterday, the Senate passed @RepPeteStauber's bill pushing back on Biden’s last-ditch effort to withdraw over 200,000 mineral-rich acres from development and put Minnesota’s economic security and our national security at risk. The days of the radical left stifling our state's mining industry are OVER.

You’re right, two things can be true at once, @Michele_Tafoya — and here they are: 1. Sulfide mining has a 100% water contamination rate. Every single mine. Ever. 2. The company behind this project is Chilean, was fined for water violations three weeks before the House vote, and ships its minerals to China. “Energy independence” where the owner is foreign, the smelting is foreign, and the profits are foreign — but the pollution is 100% Minnesotan. We’d love to have you join the @staubermn team. You’ve already got the talking points down. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

CLOSING DAY at @staubermn! Our star agent calls Senator Smith “tumultuous” for representing 70% of Minnesotans. At our firm, we have a different word for that: obstruction of sale. Here’s what Agent Stauber won’t put in the listing sheet: - Harvard economists: mine creates FEWER jobs than protection - Pete’s own pollster: 56% of his district opposed - Antofagasta: fined $775K for water violations three weeks before the House vote - The minerals: shipped to China for smelting - The profits: sent to Santiago - The pollution: stays in Minnesota for 500 years - The protections: gone forever Republicans privately told Senator Smith they knew this was wrong. They voted yes anyway. Senator Smith wasn’t filibustering. She was reading the seller’s disclosure out loud. Our agent just didn’t want the buyers to hear it. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

Professor Painter has been sounding the alarm on this for years. At @staubermn, we consider him our toughest home inspector. Unfortunately for him, our star agent @RepPeteStauber already closed the deal — 1.1M acres to a Chilean billionaire who rented a mansion to the president’s daughter, and a Swiss company whose CEO got a friendship medal from Putin. At Stauber MN Realty, we don’t do background checks on our buyers. We just cash the commission. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

Wow, @RepPeteStauber thinks 80% public support means Congress MUST act? Funny — 70% of Minnesotans opposed his BWCA deal and he sold it anyway. 145,000+ public comments against it. His own pollster showed 56% of his district opposed. At @staubermn, we respect the will of the people. We just respect the will of billionaires more. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

Thank you @RepFinstad for the kind words about our agency! Quick disclosure on those “critical mineral supply chains.” Antofagasta ships its concentrates to China for smelting. The minerals don’t stay here. But at @staubermn, “America’s supply chain” means America’s land → Chile’s profits → China’s smelters. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…

AGENT’S NOTE: The @mngop statement references 600 laid-off Iron Range miners. Important disclosure: those were TACONITE steelworkers at Hibbing Taconite & Minorca, laid off because tariffs tanked auto demand for steel. Our star agent @RepPeteStauber voted to PROTECT those tariffs — three times. Twin Metals is copper-nickel, not taconite. Different mineral, different mine, different workforce. But at @staubermn, we never let facts get in the way of a closing. staubermn.com/entire-great-l…

Republican Party of Minnesota
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 16, 2026 MN GOP: Amy Klobuchar votes no, turns her back on Iron Range union jobs and struggling mining families ST. PAUL, MN — Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Alex Plechash released the following statement after Senator Amy Klobuchar voted no on H.J. Res. 140, the resolution led by Congressman Pete Stauber to overturn the federal mining ban in Northern Minnesota. The Senate had scheduled final passage for April 16 after taking up the measure the night before, and Klobuchar had already voted nay on the procedural motion to move it forward. “Amy Klobuchar has spent years hiding behind her family’s mining story. She talks about being the granddaughter of a miner. She wants Northern Minnesota voters to believe that means she understands the Iron Range and will fight for mining families. “But when the moment came to prove it — when she had the chance to stand up for Northern Minnesota, for union miners, and for the communities that depend on mining — Amy Klobuchar voted no. “She did this while Iron Range families are already hurting. Last year, roughly 600 miners were laid off at Hibbing Taconite and Minorca, and the unemployment extension for those workers is set to run out in June. Minnesota lawmakers have also been working this year on another extension for more recently laid-off miners because the mining downturn continues to hit these communities hard. “That is what makes Amy Klobuchar’s vote so cold and so callous. Families are struggling. Workers are worried. Communities are under pressure. And she still sided against the jobs and economic future of Northern Minnesota. “Her grandfather would be rolling over in his grave watching her turn her back on the Iron Range. “This was one of the clearest moments of Amy Klobuchar’s twenty years in Washington. When Northern Minnesota needed a fighter, she chose Washington politics over Minnesota workers. When union mining jobs were on the line, she voted no. “Mining families do not need another speech. They do not need more tears on the Senate floor. They need someone with the guts to fight for their jobs, their future, and their way of life. “Amy Klobuchar failed that test today, and Northern Minnesota will not forget it.” ###

Do not lose hope. This fight is not over. We should all be so proud of the coalition we built to fight this. Tribal Nations. Outdoorsmen. Conservationists. Public lands advocates. But most importantly, Minnesotans who deeply appreciate what these waters mean to all of us and our shared obligation to safeguard them for our kids, our grandkids, and every generation thereafter. One day, the shoe will be on the other foot, and they will regret what they did to the Boundary Waters today — because this was a mistake. They’ve set a new precedent that no public lands are ever truly safe, including those in Montana. Utah. The Dakotas. Idaho. Republicans privately told me they knew this is wrong, and I wish they had voted their conscience.   Tonight, we take a much-needed rest. Tomorrow, we figure out what comes next.   Save the Boundary Waters.

Our star agent, @PeteStauber, is citing scripture to sell Minnesota’s wilderness to a Chilean mining conglomerate. Deuteronomy describes a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs as a BLESSING — not a listing. At @staubermn, we’ve sold a lot of things, but using the Bible to market 500 years of acid mine drainage to the land God gave you is a new one even for us. staubermn.com/bwca-listing.h…
Pete Stauber@RepPeteStauber

Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to Him and revering Him. For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills. - Deuteronomy 8:6-9
