As a teacher, you should never want a student leaving class feeling defeated or deflated. As an admin, you should never want a teacher leaving school feeling defeated or deflated. Be compassionate, available, supportive, and encouraging.

Many times we as adults allow our frustrations to get the best of us. We see the potential in every child and we want to be a part of their story, to be their champion, to help them reach their full potential. Almost every educator I have ever met wants to be great for their students, but at times lose their way because they care so darn much that they worry they will let them down. And when this happens, our behavior can get the best of us. Keep believing and remember what you said when you sat in that interview chair. That is the best version of all of us. Never too late to #Recalibrate my friends. Blessings!

When you believe the work you do has value…you’ll tell the story of the work. When you’re afraid of the repose to the story, you’re less likely to tell that story. Create an environment where all stories have value and those stories will be told. #LeadFromWhereYouAre

We won’t always get the immediate gratification for the work we put into classrooms and schools. Helping each other see that impact brings more people back the next day w/ the knowledge that they impact those around them. Sometimes that’s all we need. #LeadFromWhereYouAre

As a brand new administrator, I had a mentor offer some powerful advice around communication. She said, “You have two eyes, two ears and one mouth. You should observe, listen and speak proportionately.” I was so taken aback. However, over the years as a reflection practitioner this advice has been some of the most helpful. Developing strong observation and listening skills and knowing when to and not to speak strengthens your effectiveness as a communicator. #ConsultDrMichelle
