@RtoVR The thing is, if you're co-funded by Meta, it could very well be even worse, because there's a recoup percentage that's higher than 30%, and then the normal 30% on the rest....

@eminus @QuestWithMatt @c_pruett I don't buy this - we've been hearing it since 2024. I strongly suspect some number-fudging here to come up with some of these figures - for example, it may be true that there are more players in VR in 2025, but I bet most are TAYA - which won't be what devs want to hear.

@QuestWithMatt @c_pruett I think his presentation about the maturation of the young folks playing Gorilla Tag into teenagers with more buying power over the next couple of years provides the most insight that can be given.

So maybe the question has already been asked, but if I were there, I would have asked @c_pruett: The latest releases of "Elite VR"-oriented games are all failures now. Are you going to do anything to remedy this ? So yes, there were 100 games that generated $1 million, but what is the breakdown between casual games, elite games, etc.? #VR #Quest3

Q: 100+ titles have made significant revenue. Last couple of years how many new titles have made more than $1 million? A: I don't know how many are new titles or not. It is very hard to change what the top titles are. All three titles talked about today made $1 million.

I've been off twitter and linkedin for 6 weeks (deliberately) and it turns out that when you're not on these two platforms - nobody fucking talks about AI at all.

@afoxdesign At least a couple of weeks ago, Valve were still doing a lot of optimisation across the entire library for standalone, and in fact by default the HMD couldn’t actually launch into a standalone version of a PCVR title. I’d be surprised if _any_ game is particularly playable yet.

So apparently GamertagVR has demoed a standalone version of Half-Life Alyx on Steam Frame, and calls it… interesting 👀

What an absolutely rotten, psychotic, dystopian, all-around-gross perspective of the human race this man has. How utterly detached from humanity and reality you must be to hold this as a genuine world view and also believe your snake oil is the cure.

🚨 SAM ALTMAN: “People talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model … But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It takes like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart.”

🦔 Jason Calacanis says his company hit $300/day per agent using Claude's API at only 10-20% capacity, which scales to around $100,000/year per agent. Chamath Palihapitiya added that he's now asking "what's the token budget for our best devs?" and said AI-assisted developers need to be at least 2x as productive just to justify the cost. He said this is actively happening inside his company or he'll run out of money. My Take This was always the obvious trajectory. AI providers subsidized usage to drive adoption, and now the subsidies are ending. The consumer plans are likely loss leaders subsidized by VC money, and the gap between what individuals pay and what it actually costs to run these models is closing fast. I'm struck by the surprise from people who should know better. These are sophisticated tech investors just now realizing that running agents 24/7 burns through tokens at rates that dwarf human salaries. A human engineer runs on coffee, remembers context from years ago, builds institutional knowledge, and doesn't rack up exponential costs the longer they think about a problem. Agents waste tokens constantly, researching and validating things that don't need validation, spinning up subagents for simple tasks when a straightforward approach would work fine. The companies that fired engineers to replace them with AI agents are learning that you can't negotiate with an API bill the way you can renegotiate a salary. And unlike employees who might stick around during a rough patch, the meter just keeps running. Hedgie🤗

@kiwitalkz Nah sorry there’s something else going on here - with the market as bad as it is, I know plenty of people who have landed jobs in less time in the industry, with significantly less prestigious credits to their names.

I don't think gamers really understand how bad of a state the video game industry is in right now. The Rockstar developer I am interviewing next week has been unemployed for a year, he can't find work and this is someone who worked on L.A. Noire, RDR1, GTA V and RDR2!! Even with an impressive resume he can't even get interviews, I wasn't exaggerating when I said we are in the midst of an extinction level event of talent in the game industry.

Unless I missed it, I believe there are no PSVR2 games announced at the PS showcase. But @forefrontvr and @titanisles both announced they are coming soon! Any other games coming soon to your favorite platform that should get the attention? #PSVR2
