The more relevant point is that Ukraine was diplomatically pressured into giving them up — and received security guarantees as compensation. The bottom line: Ukraine surrendered a massive nuclear arsenal under an internationally agreement. Russia — a co-signatory — then invaded and annexed Ukrainian territory. That is a textbook violation of the Budapest Memorandum. The weapons were real, the agreement was real, and the betrayal was real.

They’re gone.” This was a remote address to NYU students tonight. NYU’s administration hides behind the fact that groups like this are unrecognized while doing nothing about the obvious radicalization taking place around its campus.
