Manner: I have indications that many targets that were recommended by the Secretary of Defense were rejected by Centcom, that they were civilian targets. It's secondhand knowledge. Wallace: You are hearing secondhand that Pete Hegseth has ordered strikes, that centcom commanders have refused?

The New York Times is reporting that Rubio and Ratcliffe told Trump the idea of regime change was unachievable while General Caine concurred. Vance told Trump that starting an unnecessary, unprovoked and existential regional war with Iran was "a bad idea" but Trump started it anyway. The next day, U.S. intelligence pushed back sharply. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called the regime-change scenario “farcical,” with Secretary of State Marco Rubio adding: “In other words, it’s bullshit.” Gen. Dan Caine told the president: “This is, in my experience, standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell, and their plans are not always well-developed.” Trump dismissed regime change as “their problem” — but remained focused on targeting Iran’s leadership and military. By Feb. 26, in a final Situation Room meeting, opposition inside the room was clear but fractured. Vice President JD Vance warned the war could spiral and drain U.S. resources, but ultimately said: “You know I think this is a bad idea… but I’ll support you.”

💢📰 REPORT | New reporting from NYT reveals how Trump decided to go to war with Iran — after a closed-door Israeli pitch and despite deep internal divisions inside his own team. At a secret Feb. 11 Situation Room meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a four-part pitch for regime change, including a video montage of potential replacement leaders such as Reza Pahlavi. JD Vance was absent, stuck in Azerbaijan. Appearing alongside Mossad chief David Barnea and military officials, Netanyahu argued: Iran’s ballistic missile program could be destroyed in weeks. The regime would be too weak to close the Strait of Hormuz. Street protests — fomented with Mossad help — could trigger an uprising. Kurdish fighters from Iraq could open a ground front in the northwest. Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” The next day, U.S. intelligence pushed back sharply. Vice President JD Vance warned the war could spiral and drain U.S. resources, but ultimately said: “You know I think this is a bad idea… but I’ll support you.” Rubio said regime change was unrealistic, but destroying Iran’s missile program was achievable. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was the biggest proponent of war and backed immediate action. Military leadership outlined risks, including depleted munitions and the threat to Hormuz, but all stopped short of opposing the plan. Key officials responsible for managing the fallout, like the Treasury Secretary, and DNI Gabbard were notably absent. Trump went around the table asking advisors their view, then made the call: “I think we need to do it.” The strikes began two days later.

This is what intellectual dishonesty looks like from a party that claims to value reason. There is zero evidence that Trump is considering nuclear weapons against Iran. None. No leak, no statement, no policy document, no advisor on record. The Libertarian Party appears to be fabricating a crisis out of thin air and then congratulating itself for opposing it. "I can't believe we have to say this." You don't. You chose to say it because manufacturing fear is easier than making a philosophical argument you are incapable of constructing. This is the Libertarian method: skip the hard work of identifying what is actually happening, jump to the most terrifying hypothetical imaginable, and then position yourself as the only adults in the room for opposing something nobody proposed. It is the mirror image of the left's "Trump is Hitler" hysteria. If the Libertarian Party wants to oppose the war, it should make the argument on its merits. It should explain why Iran is not a threat, or why retaliatory force is unjustified, or why their alternative would protect American lives. It does none of these things because it cannot. So instead it posts "do not start a nuclear war" as if that is a brave stance rather than a straw man designed to terrify people who do not read past the headline. Rand called this the argument from intimidation: an attempt to bypass reason by substituting fear.
Libertarian Party@LPNational

"US didn't care about us till Pearl Harbor" Let's correct the record we started a oil embargo with Mexico and Venezuela on Germany right off the bat September 1939 halted all oil shipments to Germany. Overnight the Germany lost 63% to 72% of its oil which is why they had to switch to synthetic fuel. 1940, we closed the loophole with Spain. We also had that cash and carry policy in 1939 that allowed for the sale of weapons which saw 3,318 us built aircraft ordered and delivered prior to December 7th 1941 to various European countries, primarily to the United Kingdom. $1.2 Billion worth of Aircraft sold to the RAF by 1940. September 2nd 1940 we gave 50 surplus ships to the United Kingdom and we're constructing 60 new ships. Then there was the whole 50 billion worth of weapons under lendlease March 11, 1941. US sanctions and Embargos on Japan in 1940 and 1941 cut off 80% of Japan's oil supply 100% of Japan's high octane aviation fuel 75% of its scrap iron 90% of Japan's copper supply 75% of Japan's foreign trade liquidity. Due to the asset freeze, Japan couldn't pay for rubber from the United Kingdom who was still supplying it to Japan. Despite the invasion of China and so overnight, Japan lost 100% of its rubber supply. 244 US citizens volunteered and served in the Royal Air Force No. 71 squadron No. 121 squadron and No. 133 squadron 300 US citizens volunteered for the Flying Tigers. US Ships attacked by Germany for delivering aid to the United Kingdom prior to December 7th 1941 USS Greer exchanged fire with German. U-Boat u652 and created Roosevelt's shoot on site order. USS Kearny damaged USS Reuben James sunk SS Robin Moor sunk US ships attacked by Japan for assisting China prior to December 7 1941. USS Panay sunk USS Tutuila damaged USS Luzon attacked minimal damage USS Oahu damaged SS President Harrison seized crew taken hostage ship sunk SS Lanikai seized crew taken hostage SS Silverash temporarily detained
Diana 🇪🇺🇺🇦@Diana_European

The US didn't care about us until they were attacked at Pearl Harbor. The US didn't rebuild anything afterwards in Europe. We went into debt with them and repaired the damage from the war. The US didn't help, they just did business.

I choose my words intentionally. I detest hyperbole. And I believe I am a reasonable voice who presents facts in a measured, responsible, and level-headed manner. To say what I am about to say weighs heavily and is not said lightly or with partisan bias. It is time for the 25th Amendment to be exercised and Donald Trump removed from office. He is destroying our country and has destabilized the entire world. His actions are reckless and are directly endangering the lives, prosperity, and security of Americans. This cannot continue and is unsustainable in the current global environment. In addition to his erratic behavior, I believe he is suffering from dementia and is unable to carry out the Constitutional duties required of the President of the United States of America. I call upon Congress and the President’s cabinet to stop this madness now, before it is too late. (This is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect that of my employer, DoD, or any organization I am associated with.)

We'll gladly go, but piss off with this passive aggressive bullshit. Our "protection" was for external threats. You were the idiots that elected a bunch warmed over socialists that imported millions of third world go@t fuckers into your beautiful countries. You created the EU and then let it go from a common market to a political laughingstock. That wasn't us or anyone else. YOU had a choice and YOU made it. Western Euros have always looked down their nose at their far more successful younger brother on the other side of the ocean. That's fine, we're used to it. But don't for a minute blame YOUR bungling and choices on us. Indeed, stand on your own two feet. Then kindly fuck off.
Landeur 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@Landeur

@CynicalPublius Please just take your bases and leave. Europe needs to stand on its own two feet, for sure. We outsourced our security to America. But that outsourcing was a catastrophe. The entire continent has been invaded and destroyed under your 'protection'. For the love of God, go.

@ABridgen I’m pretty sure President Trump needs the approval of Congress to leave NATO which he’s unlikely to get even if he wins the midterms. That said, the more I see the trajectory Europe is on, the more I wish he could get his way, and I was a die hard Atlanticist 5 years ago.

You Polish fucking idiot... you absolute mouth-breathing, historically illiterate simpleton who wouldn’t recognize genuine warrior ethos if it curb-stomped your fragile national ego into the dirt where it belongs. You sit there, sneering at the spectacle of America committing every asset, every operator, every ounce of kinetic fury from the most lethal military machine ever forged...just to yank one downed pilot out of the fire....and you sneer. That’s doctrine. That’s identity. And your limp-dicked dismissal proves exactly why your military culture treats its people like disposable serfs while ours forges legends who fight like they have a nation that will burn the world down to get them home. “Leave no man behind” isn’t some sentimental bumper-sticker slogan for the U.S. military. It is the sacred, blood-oath covenant that has defined American warfighting since the Revolution, through Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, the Chosin Reservoir, Vietnam’s endless Combat Search and Rescue missions that diverted entire air wings to extract one airman, Mogadishu where Task Force Ranger bled rivers to recover every last brother, and every black-op Delta, DEVGRU, or Ranger stack has ever run since. It is codified in the Ranger Creed, the SEAL Ethos, the Marine Corps’ every-man-a-rifleman creed, and the Army’s Warrior Ethos: “I will never leave a fallen comrade.” We enforce it with lethal precision because we understand something your culture apparently never grasped: the individual American fighter is not expendable cannon fodder. He is the irreducible unit of national power. This policy is pure predatory genius. It weaponizes trust. Every pilot, every operator, every grunt steps into the breach knowing...bone-deep, soul-deep...that if the worst happens, his brothers and his nation will expend whatever it takes, risk whatever it costs, to drag him back alive or bring him home in a box. That knowledge annihilates the paralyzing fear of abandonment that has broken lesser armies across history. It transforms hesitation into ferocious, calculated aggression. It creates men who fight like cornered lions because they trust their tribe implicitly. Betray that covenant and you erode the very foundation of combat effectiveness. Armies that treat their soldiers as interchangeable meat...look at the meat-grinder doctrines of the Soviets, the Chinese, or certain Eastern European “allies” who’ve spent centuries getting partitioned and occupied...crumble from within. Morale collapses. Initiative dies. You end up with conscripts who surrender at the first real contact because they know nobody’s coming for them. We don’t do that. We never will. That’s why our warriors are qualitatively superior. It projects unassailable resolve that deters enemies and cements alliances. It raises the cost of engaging us exponentially. It tells the world that American lives have infinite value while theirs are negotiable. That message is worth every asset, every round, every risk...because it sustains the dominance you now resent from the sidelines. History is littered with the corpses of empires that forgot this lesson. We studied those failures. We weaponized the opposite. So when we lose “all this” to rescue one pilot and still call it a triumph, it isn’t delusion...it’s affirmation of the spiritual steel that makes us the superpower and leaves you polishing participation trophies from other people’s wars. Your sneering exposes a profound cultural weakness: you don’t value the individual fighter with this ferocious, unrelenting loyalty, so you can’t comprehend why we do. That’s why your military produces cannon fodder and ours produces predators. We don’t leave our own to rot in some foreign shithole. Period. That isn’t weakness. That is what makes us lethally, unapologetically superior. And that, you clueless Polish prick, is why we win. 💀🗡️🦅🇺🇸🪖

I appreciate a lot of the comments I’ve gotten over the last 24 underscoring that the President has been attacking NATO for years. And my answer to that is, yep, he shouldn’t do that. NATO has a venerable history. Here are my questions for his critics: * Did Trump cause Europe’s fail in the Balkans? * Did Trump cause Europe to prioritize Russian oil? * Did Trump cause Europe to build Nordstream? * Did Trump make Europe (and Canada) stop investing in defense? Yeah. NATO allies stopped behaving like true partners a while ago. And that’s not on Trump.
